Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Barrios.
Hi Daniel, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was born in Venezuela and around when I was 12 years old, I moved to Puerto Rico. From there, I decided to join the U.S. Marine Corps and served for six and a half years. After that point, I wanted to have more control of my life while still being able to help other and make a living. That’s when I decided to join the real estate world. I has so many aspects that it’s impossible to get bored or know everything. Every day I learn something from a colleague, a client, or one of my investors. It’s breathtaking when you get to help fulfill other people’s dreams and how much I can impact in a community with just flipping a property. Even though I started all this new chapter in September of 2021, I feel pleased to say that I have done over 20 transactions.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The hardest part is looking for investment properties to flip. A lot of people wanted to sell their home at a high prime value without having any of the upgrades of the comparable homes in the neighborhood. Getting used to that adversity and still being able to flip their answer to an agreement was the most challenging part of my work but also the thing that help me grow the most.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize with fix & flips. That’s when you purchase a property that’s not on her best shape; you remodel and fix it up to sell to a higher price. I did a 2-month negotiation to lower the price of a property for a 21% of their original price; that’s the biggest price reduction I’ve been able to achieve so far.
How do you define success?
It all depends on what lens I want to look at it.
As a husband, seeing my wife smiling and being happy means the world to me.
As a realtor, being able to provide the necessary income to cover all of my household expenses is my goal. Money isn’t everything, but I would be lying if I tell you is not a significant part of what I work for. But on the other hand, the beauty of flipping houses is how you can take a property that usually was in a really rough shape and abandoned to make it one of the most prettiest house in the area. Making it a new home for a lucky family that didn’t have the knowledge or resources to fix the property themselves.
