Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniella Vargas.
Hi Daniella, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I always knew that working in the corporate world was important for my career but it was not something that I wanted to do all my life. I have always had an entrepreneurial spirit and I was always looking for ways of starting my own business. I knew that whatever I started, it had to do with something related to my roots, somehow, in any way. Coming from Peru and living in the US gave me the multicultural perspective. I have friends from all over the world and I have been to create friendships, work connections; it just came naturally.
I decided to study International Business. I did not quite know what I was going to do with this career, but I knew for a fact that I wanted to be involved with international business matters. And that’s how I started in my career working for multinational companies, mainly in commercial roles such as in marketing and sales overseeing Latin American countries. I never lost connection with my roots and I was able to travel a few times to Latin America with work.
I still had the dream of being able to start my own thing. Living in this country has given me endless opportunities of growth, teachings and many ideas, but I did not know how to start.
A few years ago a good friend of mine gave me a birthday present. It was a cute white purse of a Brazilian brand. I loved the brand so much that I wanted to buy stuff for myself. I found out the brand was only sold in Brazil and other South American countries. This is when I thought ”Why can’t this brand be sold in the US?”.
I thought that having a platform to sell Latin American brands who are not sold in the US was the perfect idea.
This is how Mint Pudú was founded! Mint Pudú is the platform where you can have access to amazing brands from Latin America.
I did a lot of research and finally got in contact with the brand, Capodarte.
I started with Capodarte, but I already have in mind lots of other brands which I am sure will do great in the American market.
Why Mint Pudú? Green is personally my favorite color especially the mint shade and the Pudú is the smallest deer on earth located only in South America especially in Chile, Argentina Peru.
The combination of both made the perfect match.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The process took about a year, from the time I got in contact with the brand up until the goods were imported in the US. The struggle was the long wait! since the products were made to order, the process took a few months. Also, since the import/export world is crazy right now, that also affected the delay with the import.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Most of my professional career has been in the export/import industry. Anything that has to do with international transportation of any company you can imagine.
I have worked mostly for European companies who do business with all around the world. But living in Miami, it was inevitable not to be connected with the Latin America business world.
Many people say I have great skills to connect with others on a personal level. I not only connect with them but I have been able to establish long lasting friendships as well! I am very personable, I love to know everything about a person.
What’s next?
Mint Pudú has just started but I already have big plans for it! For the time being, I have started with Capodarte. I my goal is to make the public aware that they can have access to great Latam brands through Mint Pudú.
