Conversations with Debra Obafemi

Today we’d like to introduce you to Debra Obafemi.

Hi Debra, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I went to school for Information Technology focusing on Business Analytics… During my time at FIU, I took a business marketing course which enlightened me to learn more about entrepreneurship and businesses, from business structure to the back end of businesses and etc. Upon graduating, I decided to start my own business selling clothing and fur slides but in order to get this business off the ground, I had to learn several things about e-commerce and the behind the scenes of branding and etc. I invested a lot of time in creating my own website since my resources were very limited. I took some of my previous knowledge from courses in school and mixed it in with newfound skills and developed my first Shopify website. My website got so much recognition from not only customers but friends also that eventually people started reaching out for assistance with their own websites. With the support and motivation from friends and family I decided to not only just make web development a side hobby but turn it into my own brand and company which is how DebDoesItAlll was created.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Initially, it was a pretty smooth road I was creating simple websites at a super affordable price for customers. Eventually, people started reaching out for more complex sites and designs which is where challenges started to come in. Wanting to not only satisfy my customers but to also challenge myself leads me to not only to learn more about my craft but to actually invest my all into my brand. With a lot of time and dedication, I was able to master both Shopify and Wix website platforms and provide customers with versatile web development options.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Outside of my brand, I do work in a professional field and strive to grow in my career daily. I currently am an Analyst for a large Accounting firm. I am most proud of my ability to keep going no matter what adversity I have faced throughout my career. The one thing that mostly sets me apart from others is that I never lose faith or give up, I am a find a way or make a way type of girl and anything that I put my mind to is always accomplished.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Do not be afraid to network! Technology can take you very far these days so I would always suggest to use social media to the best of your ability. Instagram and LinkedIn are my two most used social media platforms. Do not be afraid to make yourself known or to be seen. Reach out to people with ideas, attend seminars and workshops locally, find like-minded peers that you can network with! It’s not always about what you know sometimes it’s just about who you know!
