Conversations with DeMitrious Wyant

Today we’d like to introduce you to DeMitrious Wyant.

Hi DeMitrious, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was born with Sickle Cell Disease Genotype SS at birth. Struggled with finding normalcy out of life as a result of always being in the hospital undergoing blood transfusions and other treatments. I moved to Orlando from Atlanta and started my Catering business, “Your Best Taste Catering”. While sick in the hospital I met a lady named Carla Lewis founder and owner of Kids Conquering Sickle Cell Disease Foundation here in Orlando Florida. I volunteer for her organization still today and started 2016. Carla took me to my very first Sickle Cell Community Conference in Atlanta where I met different SCD Organizations and hundreds of Warriors just like myself. There is where I realized my true purpose which is to advocate and help those live a healthier life with SCD through natural alternatives.

I created my business “Sickle Cell Souljah Strong LLC” with the vision and mission to Educate, Advocate, and provide Immune boosting nutrition with all natural mineral filled foods and herbs.

My Podcast titled “The Souljah Strong Way” descriptively talks about what has helped me on my journey with SCD over 10 full episodes streaming on YouTube as well digital streaming platforms such as Apple Music, Spotify and Tidal.

Second season of the podcast starts April 6, 2022.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Nothing is ever smooth sailing, there has been struggles that have shaped me to understand business and how to conduct business on a professional level. I’ve made investments and didn’t see and return but that’s business. The journey has been humbling and rewarding at the same time. If I ever trip and fall I dust myself off and keep going.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a creative individual, I specialize in a variety of artistic areas, for instance I’m a certified chef catering flavorful cuisines from American and International dishes with my own twist. I am a Published Writer and Music Artist with a 200+ Song catalog streaming on all Digital Streaming Platforms. I’m most proud of my Journey with Sickle Cell and how I’ve managed to become my own Doctor. I created a Documentary about my Journey with Priapism an complication cause by sickle cell effecting the males with SCD titled “A Day In The Life of a Sickle Cell Souljah: Priapism Edition” on YouTube. As an extension of this documentary I created an educational self care package and brochure for priapism called “Save The Male Trunks”. All of this information can be found on my website artheprophet.com

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
My favorite book at the moment is from the late great honorable Hertz Nazaire (Sickle Cell Warrior) titled “Coloring Between the Lines”. My favorite podcast at the moment is “The Souljah Strong Way” created by myself and my SCD brother Patrick Gordon Jr.

My favorite app is Apple Music.
