Today we’d like to introduce you to Dwight Colon.
Hi Dwight, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Hey, what’s going on my name is Dwight Colon. I’m a true land historian and treasure hunter based out of Orlando Florida. In 2007 I founded a group called New Age Goonies. I use this platform on Facebook and multiple other social networks to share my passion for detecting historical areas, beaches, and underwater. I’ve made some awesome connections in this field and that has brought me to some incredible places. I work with the 1715 fleet in recovering treasure from the ocean. I also travel all around the US for metal detecting events, Representing my brand, and also being a brand ambassador for one of the biggest names in the industry Minelab Metal Detectors.
I have also made some incredible find’s While out on my Adventures. I found a jewelry hoard in South Carolina, Found emeralds across the treasure coast of Florida. And some pretty amazing Civil War history on my travels to Maine.
But I would say, my favorite thing To find is local history.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Nothing is ever a smooth road. You just Gotta make sure you are ready for the ride. Being an entrepreneur is never easy. You are the needle in the haystack the one who thinks out the box and the one who is going to make it happen. That’s why the gift of the idea was given to you. I feel I was truly Made for this lifestyle.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I really love history and being able to find it. Metal detecting is not just a hobby. It’s a sport. And I’m really good at it lol. What’s really sets me apart from Others is my drive. I literally won’t leave until I find something. So much history that we walk over and I want to be the one to find it. I came up with this awesome slogan to get people started in the day.
