Conversations with Edwin Reyes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Edwin Reyes.

Hi Edwin, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
Hi everyone, my name is Edwin Reyes and I’m the founder of Crazymyworld or crazymyworld.com.

I’m a Dominican/American-born and breed native of Lynn, Massachusetts. I was raised by a single mom who had 3 kids and spent my childhood just getting by.

After feeling stuck in Massachusetts for many years I thought time for a change. So, I started to travel, learn and explore loving it so much that I dedicated a good portion of my life to traveling the world. A few continents and regions of those places are Europe, Central America, and South America, and a few others.

Yet after a few years of travel, I felt I needed to show others what I learned and how I can help them in their adventure. At first, Crazymyworld was just a blog now it’s expanding into other services (coming soon).

The idea is to become a trusted travel company for all your travel needs and go as far as to personalize the experience to suit your unique situation. Crazymyworld is even planning on opening a hotel. In the Peruvian city of Iquitos located in the Amazon jungle.

I started with just myself and now there are 4 of us in total as a start-up. The beginnings are always the most difficult but I learned good things take time.

Knowing this valuable rule, I know I will slowly meet or exceed my customer’s expectations, and grow a business people can feel proud of doing business with.

I am excited to be here with you, on this journey and hopefully, my story inspires you to take action on your own goals.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
One of my many challenges was the start of the company. For example, the name it took me a considerable amount of time to even name the company.

On top of the name, I didn’t even know how to code or even create a website. I knew the beginning was going to be the most difficult.

Yet my mind was set on this so I would spend my off days from work researching online and going on Youtube. Just to inspire some creativity.

Then it hit me that a lot of my travels were dangerous and, in some cases, almost fatal. So, I thought the business should be about the crazy side of traveling because that’s what I’m about. So, I named the business Crazymyworld.

The next part was coding. How would I do that, at first, I tried to hire a developer but at the time I was on a budget and it was too expensive.

Then I heard about these no-coding websites like Wix and Weebly. I tried Weebly for a good two years and learned what I needed, and with the help of some friends and my employees, we made our own website.

Each piece of the puzzle I was lacking took me longer than expected due to my lack of knowledge. Even now that Crazymyworld has grown so much we feel as a team we have more to do and the struggles never stop.

Hardships I feel help you grow and build experience so I welcome the challenges ahead.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My work life is a bit all over the place. I started as a dishwasher in a restaurant called Fuddruckers. It was my first job so I can’t complain. It was a small restaurant in Saugus, Massachusetts. I needed to get my feet wet and this was my start.

When I started my second job at Target Corporation as an Electronics team member. I picked up customer service experience and technological knowledge.

I’ve spent years here, it’s these skills that have helped me to cater to my customers on Crazymyworld.

My third job was delivering Amazon packages as an Amazon driver. What I learned was how to get out of your comfort zone and venture out to new places (and be a better driver).

With Amazon, I needed a job to help me keep Crazymyworld afloat during the covid Delta wave because business was slow and financially it was hard.

My fourth job (what I currently have to pay my business loans) is working for a medical company that makes medical supplies in a lab. That has taught me how to problem solve and use my head more.

All these different professions led me to what I am today so that I can become an entrepreneur and grow.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
Luck is one of the most powerful weapons life has given me. Luck has played an important role in my life personally and financially.

During a trip to Costa Rica, I almost got bit by a venomous snake in the Rain Forest. In the desert of Peru, I was almost bitten by a black widow.

Also, when I was a kid visiting family in the Dominican Republic I almost died of a fever.

There are many instances of near misses that honestly were just luck.

Yet the biggest lucky moment in my life was leaving Argentina two days before a year-long lockdown when covid began.

If I talk about my business life. I would say partnering up on the hotel project in Peru with local knowledge on my side. otherwise, I would have never been able to start this new venture.

I was lucky enough that I came across a like-minded individual who had the same idea and partnered up with him on this project. I would say luck is my golden goose.
