Today we’d like to introduce you to Elida Wallack
Hi Elida, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was born and raised in Miami, Florida and moved to Orlando in 2013 with my husband and our two children. I was a professional dancer for 10 years and a dance teacher for 30 years.
We originally moved to Orlando to open a second location of our family business, Mango’s Tropical Café Orlando. Soon afterward, my sister, who owned a successful dance school in Miami, also moved to Orlando and opened Peaches Dance and Music Orlando, where I have been a teacher and choreographer for the past 8 years.
My love for photography evolved from a hobby to a business about 7 years ago. I specialize in dance, headshot, portrait, kids and family photography. I can help my clients customize the perfect photo session to make sure they get their desired results. No photo shoot is too big or too small. I offer mini sessions as well as large corporate headshot sessions for more than 100 people.
In 2023, I opened a photography studio in Winter Garden and am currently booking appointments for all types of photo sessions. Additionally, my studio is equipped with a professional sprung dance floor for the safety of dancers when they jump and execute dance movements during photo shoots. My extensive background in dance also gives me the ability to create perfect poses, jumps and dance photo compositions.
I’m very excited about my photography business in this wonderful community and am grateful to be working with so many talented and amazing people.
I look forward to creating many more lasting memories and professional images that are guaranteed to make you smile!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I began my photography journey as a hobby and gradually transitioned it into a business while I was also working as a dance teacher and choreographer. I haven’t had any struggles, per se, but there is definitely a big expense in keeping a photography studio space. However, for the type of work I do, that space is crucial.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I have always had a passion for photography, and my grandfather, who was also a photographer, taught me many things about cameras, composition and lighting. I have trained as a dancer from the time I was four years old and that has given me the unique opportunity to seamlessly bring dance and photography together. There is nothing I enjoy more than a photo session where I can use my knowledge of dance to help create beautiful images for my clients to use professionally or just to share on social media platforms. I have also taught dance to children of all ages for 30 years and have the patience and understanding to bring out the best in kid’s photography. Although dance photography is my passion, I also specialize in headshots for professionals in the Orlando area and recently completed a successful corporate headshot session for a local company with over 100 employees. I love family photography as well and offer many in-studio and outdoor sessions for all occasions. Being an artist at heart, photography for me is hard work that is also rewarding and joyful.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
When I first moved here from Miami 11 years ago, it was definitely a change. At first, I had a difficult time adjusting to a somewhat slower paced lifestyle with not quite as much art, history and cultural diversity as what was found in abundance in Miami. Gradually, as our community grew and our family businesses opened here and began to thrive, I was able to connect with many wonderful people and learn more about Orlando and what it had to offer beyond the world renowned theme parks. I have grown love Orlando, the people in it and how the growth over the past 11 years that I have been a resident has made it feel more like home.
