Conversations with Elizabeth Frink

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Frink.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
After 25 years in the corporate world managing vendor and client relationships and streamlining business operations, I gained a deep understanding of what exceptional service truly means—and how uncommon it often is.
As a consumer, I’ve always valued high-quality products paired with outstanding customer service. Unfortunately, that level of excellence is not always easy to find. That frustration (and love of feeding people) sparked my mission — to create a luxury charcuterie catering service where both product and experience are held to the highest standard, down to the last detail.
At Charcuterie Orlando, our approach is simple but intentional: we listen carefully, execute with care, and design each board and grazing table with creativity and precision. Whether it’s a corporate meeting, a wedding, or a baby shower, every order is tailored to reflect our client’s vision and elevate their event.
What brings me the most fulfillment is the trust we earn. Many of our clients return time and again—not just for the quality of our offerings, but for the peace of mind that comes with knowing they’re in good hands. They know they’ll receive a product that’s not only beautiful and delicious, but also backed by responsive service and true professionalism.
It’s an honor to serve our clients with something that makes them proud to share at their most important moments.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
When I launched Charcuterie Orlando, I didn’t have a business degree or culinary background. What I did have was 25 years of experience in the corporate world—managing client relationships, project management, improving business processes, and understanding the importance of delivering excellent service.

Even with that foundation, starting a business from scratch came with challenges.

I had to teach myself how to price my offerings properly, manage taxes, and navigate the licensing and food safety requirements specific to Florida. There was no clear roadmap—just a lot of research, problem-solving, and learning as I went.

Marketing was another steep learning curve. I didn’t have a formal strategy—only the knowledge that quality work and strong communication would speak for themselves. I focused on building a brand around professionalism, presentation, and a high standard of service.

One of the hardest parts was managing everything alone: operations, logistics, customer service, marketing, and fulfillment. It took time to develop the systems and routines that now allow me to run the business more efficiently.

Not having a formal business education forced me to be resourceful, adaptable, and thoughtful about every decision. And while it hasn’t always been easy, it’s been worth it. Charcuterie Orlando is built on experience, integrity, and a genuine commitment to delivering quality—from the product to the customer experience.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
One of the best things I’ve done in my journey with Charcuterie Orlando is intentionally surrounding myself with the right influences and support systems. You don’t need to figure it all out alone—but you do need to be selective about where your input comes from. Here’s what’s worked for me:

1. Study Businesses (and Leaders) Who Share Your Values
I watch and learn from entrepreneurs and brands that operate with integrity, consistency, and care—people who treat their customers and employees well and take pride in their product.

2. Watch How Smart Companies Are Adapting to Change
Keep an eye on how companies you like are evolving—especially when it comes to technology and AI. It’s not about jumping on every trend, but about paying attention to how these businesses are using new tools to improve service, efficiency, or customer experience. Learning how others are adapting helps me stay current and consider what makes sense to apply in my own business.

3. Use Honest Friends as a Sounding Board
I’ve leaned on friends who have no stake in the business to tell me the truth—whether something makes sense, feels on-brand, or needs more work. Their perspective is honest, and I trust it because it’s not tied to pleasing me.

4. Take Advantage of Free Resources
I’ve listened to close to every podcast episode of How I Built This with Guy Raz and highly recommend!
Gain new perspectives from books like Buy Back Your Time by Dan Martel or get the steps to building a business spelled out for you with books like Build A Business You Love by Dave Ramsey.
The Small Business Administration (SBA). I’ve taken classes, attended workshops, and received mentoring, all for free.
You Tube! It’s all there.
