Conversations with Enybed Cabrera

Today we’d like to introduce you to Enybed Cabrera

Hi Enybed, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
For as long as I can remember, music has been my greatest passion. Growing up surrounded by melodies and rhythms was natural for me, as my mother was a folkloric dance and jazz teacher in the 1980s, and my father was a singer in a gaitero group in the 70s and 80s. Additionally, my grandmother contributed to my musical training by enrolling me in cuatro, piano, guitar, singing, and dance classes (including tap), as well as in the music conservatory in Caracas. I took my first steps in music with my current husband, Ronald Alfonzo, in the city of Caracas. At that time, our duo was called Caramelo, and we performed in various restaurants and bars in the capital city.

Over time, we formed a band on Margarita Island that would later become ‘Jade Latin Music.’ For 26 years, this project has been the heart of my career, allowing me to connect with audiences through the interpretation of danceable Latin genres such as merengue, bachata, reggaeton, vallenato, salsa, and soca, as well as pop and romantic ballads.

The journey to the United States was a challenge full of opportunities and learning experiences. Eight years ago, I made the decision to bring my music to Central Florida, a place where cultural diversity and love for Latin rhythms have allowed my art to continue growing. Adapting to a new market and a different audience motivated me to reinvent myself, perfect my performance, and connect with audiences from all over.

Over the years, I have been fortunate to share the stage with talented musicians, bring my passion to important events, and continue evolving as an artist. Additionally, I have expanded my love for music into other projects, such as the ‘CoverStar’ podcast, where I interview musicians and singers from the region, providing a space to share stories, experiences, and advice.

My journey in music is constantly evolving. Every performance, every interview, and every note I play is part of my story. And although I have come a long way, I know that the best is yet to come.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not always been a smooth road. Moving to a new country meant leaving behind my home, family, and the comfort of an established musical career to start from scratch. The cultural differences, language barriers, and the competitive nature of the music industry in the United States were significant challenges. There were moments of uncertainty, financial struggles, and self-doubt, but my passion for music and the support of my loved ones kept me going. Every challenge has been an opportunity to grow, reinvent myself, and continue evolving as an artist. Looking back, I see those struggles as stepping stones that have shaped my journey, and I am excited for what the future holds.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
One of my proudest achievements is successfully expanding my career to the United States, where I have continued to grow as an artist while staying true to my Latin roots. Additionally, I launched CoverStar, a podcast dedicated to showcasing talented musicians and singers, providing them with a platform to share their journeys and inspire others.

What sets me apart is my deep passion for music, my ability to connect with diverse audiences, and my commitment to constantly evolving as an artist. My journey has been shaped by perseverance, cultural richness, and an unwavering dedication to my craft, and I am excited to keep sharing my music with the world.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I believe that perseverance and team work is the most important quality for success. It’s the ability to keep moving forward even when things get tough, and always learning from failures to improve. In my case, over the years, I’ve learned that staying focused and adapting to changes is essential, especially in such a dynamic industry like music. Passion for what I do also plays a key role because it motivates me to keep growing and improving constantly.
