Today we’d like to introduce you to Frances Trabal
Hi Frances, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
From Marketing to Fashion to Food: The Journey of Mrs. Foodie
For as long as I can remember, food has always been more than just sustenance for nurturing; it’s been a source of comfort, creativity, and connection. My mom, a self made chef, was one of those special people who found solace in the kitchen pouring all her love and energy into creating meals, and the joy of feeding others brought her immense happiness. Watching her take pride in preparing food and seeing the delight on people’s faces when they tasted her creations was something I learned to treasure. That love for food and the shared joy of a great meal became my foundation, and it’s a passion I’ve carried with me throughout my life.
Although my life journey initially led me into the world of marketing fashion, food was always a constant thread woven through everything I did. I spent years in fashion, which included positioning global brands into the tourism and hospitality world, but over time, I began to notice that people would often reach out to me, asking for recommendations on where to find the best food experiences. Whether it was a hidden gem “hole-in-the-wall” dive, a restaurant or a unique gourmet experience, and also where to travel, it seemed that everyone around me recognized my deep appreciation for great meals and adventures.
One day, a close friend asked me why I wasn’t sharing my love of food and travelwith a wider audience. The idea struck me—why not combine my passion for food and travel with my ability to connect people and start a blog? So, I decided to launch Mrs. Foodie (Follow My Eats) on WordPress. It started as a personal space where I could share my culinaryexperiences and palatte, my favorite recipes, and gastronomic &Travel discoveries. What began as a hobby soon blossomed into something bigger as I realized the impact of sharing my journey with others.
As my blog grew, so did the opportunities that came my way when a regional hispanic bilingual newspaper approached me with an exciting proposal: would I be interested in writing about gastronomy and travel for their publication? Thrilled by the idea, I agreed, and my husband, who had always been my biggest supporter, became my producer and editor, helping me shape my writing style, while guiding me through the editorial process.
And that’s how I found myself in the world of food & travel writing—straddling two worlds that I loved: fashion, food and travel. Over the years, my platform has evolved. What started as a simple blog has now become a space where I strive to do more than just share recipes or reviews or travel experiences. My mission has always been to promote visibility for culinary creators—chefs, restaurants, food trucks, home cooks, and experiences while traveling—who may not always have the platform they deserve. It’s about more than just food and travel; it’s about people, culture, and the power of storytelling through food and the experiences.
Today, as I continue my journey, I’m grateful for all the experiences that have shaped Mrs. Foodie. My Social Media is not only a place for food and travel lovers to find inspiration, but also a way to support those who are passionate about the culinary arts and who need a little push to make their mark in the world. Food is a universal language, and through my platform, I aim to bring people together, celebrate their culinary passions, and remind us all that great food can connect us in ways we never imagined. BON APPETITE!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No it has not. In my health department, just this year, I had a kidney stones the size of a quarter of my kidney, and it was a very long and painful recovery, reminding me that I can do anything ,but I have to take care of myself!!
On the writing and Influencer, I’m one of the oldest and it gets tricky to sometimes connect with the drama!! But I love it!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m retired, so sometimes we consult business owners in regards of marketing and many other details, and is very rewarding when you see them implement the ideas, and the business come to that place where they they can feel comfortable with their future.
What set us apart is that we don’t do it for the money, yes we can charge an amount, but is very low , because at this point we are we are retired, and have everything that we need , so now, is about the soul, the feeling of helping others, because at the end that is what is all about!
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
