Today we’d like to introduce you to Grant Naquin
Hi Grant, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Hey! I’m Grant!I am 23 years old, and I’m a native to the state of Louisiana, second generation to come to America from France. My family originated from the areas of south France known as Toulouse and Montpellier. Growing up in south Louisiana in the bayou country, I learned a lot about food, culture, and the parts of home that Louisiana holds true to heart. I’ve moved to Orlando, doing 3 Disney College Programs, and this last time decided I wanted to live here permanently. Something I’ve always dreamed of was expanding my culture of Louisiana to new places who are less likely to be exposed to a culture of a state, that is like no other. Louisiana is one of the most, if not, the most diverse state of all the 50 states. I’m currently working on starting my own business in Florida, making beniegts that my grandparents taught me how to make. I also design merchandise which will be added to the mix. This past year my grandmother passed away expectedly due to Alzheimer’s Disease. She was my world and in my early years of life, she was not only my best friend but she was also the only friend I can count on. I got bullied intensively throughout primary school going into high school because I didn’t fit the social image the world had provided. Recently I’ve auditioned for a singing competition and, I am currently waiting to hear back. What I realized recently, my grandmother was my motivation for my music. Now that my grandmother has passed, she unfortunately won’t be here to see me pursue my dream if I get accepted in person, but I believe she will have the best seat in the house. My grandmothers passing was one of the hardest experiences I’ve experienced in my life, and I almost thought of giving up. I realized she wouldn’t want that for me. Today, I am pursuing not only my own business at 23 years old, but pursuing my music career as well. So what is it you may ask that this small town, Louisiana bayou, homegrown man is doing in the sunshine state? He found himself. This small fraction of my life for 2 years now has changed my life forever. A roller coaster of highs and lows for sure. I’m sure if you asked me 3 years ago what I though my life would consist of, I’d tell you, taking the boat out, go down the bayou to visit my friends I consider family, or simply just enjoying my time burning gas in my truck, just driving and listening to music. The things I ask people to take away from the past 2 years of my life are, never be afraid to stand up for yourself, change is sometimes for the best, and don’t take life too serious. You only get one chance and nothing you get here you will take with you, but it’s the impact you leave behind you when you go. So before I end off I want to leave you with this question, what foot print do you want to leave behind when you leave this beautiful planet? I hope this small fraction of my life I shared with you, inspired you to be the greatest version of yourself. I encourage you to be kind, and courageous, loving and empathetic, and have fun! Thank you OrlandoVoyager Magazine, and everyone who takes the time to read this.

Florida Boy by transplant.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It was definitely an interesting road. Not the smoothest but molded me to be a better man.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Music, social media, and culinary. I’m also known for my passion of being a person of outstanding character.
How do you think about happiness?
Other people’s happiness makes me happy. Happiness is a choice and the ability to create happiness is a gift. When you are able to do so, it becomes contagious. If I can make 2 people I’ve interacted with’s days just better than it was before because of their interaction with me, I think I’d be beyond happier myself knowing I didn’t leave someone in the darkness of a tough time.
