Conversations with Hailey Larsen

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hailey Larsen.

Hailey Larsen

Hi Hailey, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started my floral journey about 11 years ago, interning for a floral design company in college. After a couple of jobs in between, I wound up back in floral and never gave it up. I remember starting a new job unrelated to recruiting events and thinking, “Wow, I never want to give up floral.” I made a personal social post expressing that I was starting a little side hustle doing floral design. I already have some connections since I have been in and out of the industry for over ten years. What started as a small passion project turned into something much greater than that, which I always dreamed about but never seemed attainable. Here I am, 2.5 years into my business, and never in a million years thought it would turn into what it is today. I still want to accomplish so much more, but I am proud of how far this passion project has come. I am so grateful for it all.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Is business ownership ever a smooth road? Nope! I still work out of my house, which has its challenges, and growing and taking risks with the growth of your business can be terrifying. At times, everything you’ve worked for is on the line, which is a lot of pressure for someone to handle. I have made my fair share of mistakes, that is for sure. However, I believe as much as it sucks to go through the errors, it is ultimately what helps you learn and grow.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar with what you do, what can you tell them about what you do?
I run my business doing floral design for weddings and corporate events. As far as what I am known for, I am pretty versatile in my design style, but the one thing they all have in common is this wild and free aesthetic I design with. I am most proud of taking a step back and seeing the growth over the last couple of years. It’s funny; I feel like I love more than the next in every job I do. I am starting to get the clientele style I enjoy working with, which took some time, but it feels good to be heading in that direction. It fuels my fire, keeps the passion burning, and makes me feel alive. Honestly, the stress of business ownership can be killer, but the result and passion that is involved keep me coming back for more. I love the artistry of floral design and think that passion is exuded through my work and its presentation.

What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most is that I am making people happy with the work I am putting out there. After all, they are paying for a service in their eyes, which is one of the biggest days of their lives. What also matters to me is that I am putting out work with integrity, and I love the work I am putting out there.
