Today we’d like to introduce you to Jacob Kelley.
Hi Jacob, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I moved to Orlando 4 years ago from a small town in Ohio called Amherst. I’ve lived here in the Winter Garden area almost the whole time since making the move, and along the way met my beautiful wife Summer to whom I’ve now been married for over a year. We have always been in love with the people and places of Central Florida and the seemingly endless unique offerings the city and surrounding attractions offer. We are avid Disney fans above all else and love theme parks. Personally, I am also a lover of all types of food and food challenges. In the Summer of 2022, I decided to begin documenting all of my adventures here in the sunshine state not only so I could preserve the memories for my wife and me down the road but more so so I could share all these amazing stories and exciting experiences with people around the world through YouTube.
Our channel, The Jacob Kelley Channel, has grown substantially over the last 6 months and we now have over 300 subscribers and are currently trying to reach our goal of 1,000 by the end of 2023. Our videos and content showcase everything from the World’s Largest McDonald’s on International Drive to places like the Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, and smaller locally owned attractions as well such as Southern Hill Farms in Clermont. Wherever we go we are chasing food, fun, and memories that will last a lifetime in hopes of being able to share a little bit of joy and excitement with all those who view the channel.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My work with the channel is always in a state of growing towards making it a full time career for me. I would love to one day be able to travel and experience life more often and finding a way like content creation where I can simultaneously fund my own adventure while working and having fun is extremely exciting for me.
I like to think I have been blessed with great people skills and a warm and inviting personality that cultivates a feeling of friendliness in my videos and I believe truly that that will be what makes the channel successful in the long term. I keep things very natural and personable and make the viewer feel like an old friend.
I think what I’m most proud of overall is just knowing that people are enjoying the content. The comments and praise some of the videos have received mean so much to me no matter how many views they get just knowing it makes one person smile is what makes me proudest.
What would you say has been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
I’ve learned persistence is key with anything but especially so in the digital field. I have had videos that were extremely successful and others that totally flopped, but having the persistence to keep going amidst mistakes and failures I may have along the way has been a key factor in driving my content to get better as time goes on.
Choosing to focus on the good and what works have proven to be a great formula for success in the field so far.
Another lesson I have learned is to always pursue subjects I am passionate about because naturally, those will feel the most authentic and therefore be the most successful.
