Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennyfer Zubiaga.
Hi Jennyfer, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I got to the U.S from Mexico at the age of 18, and always had the goal to start a Mexican food business. At the age of 43, I reached my goal. 25 years of a wait time, due to setbacks, language barrier financial struggles, and scared of taking risks. I finally came to the realization that the only person that was holding me back, was myself. I took the negatives, and the discouragement of others to push even harder and to give myself no other choice but to succeed. My children were depending on me, and I had people to prove myself to. I believed I could, so I did. With my families help, I started to ask questions and quickly finished the paperwork I needed to began. My first sell day was at the advanced auto parts on dean road and university here in Orlando. The manager there gave me a chance, and for that, I am forever grateful. Which continued to bigger events and communities we started to serve at. Here we are today, we a family, striving in business, booked months out, and continuing to grow day at a time. There’s still a lot of growth and goals we are trying to reach but seeing how far I, and my family have come in this business, I can tell this is only the beginning to major success.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The struggles along the way before even beginning are even hard to speak about due to the negativity I and my family dealt with. And once we started the food truck, there were a lot of obstacles in regards to getting used to the busy restaurant lifestyle, we didn’t have a rhythm or plan at our first event. We kind of just went with the flow, made mistakes, and learned. We also had to continue to reach out to even get booked, which was unsuccessful financially. We started from scratch, with nothing and that itself was one of the biggest obstacles.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am the owner of a family business food truck. We cook authentic Mexican food, with love. I am proud of the bookings we’ve had, the weddings we’ve catered for, the events we’ve attended, and the customer feedback we have received. Nothing beats a happy customer, truly. My husband and I were born and raised in Mexico, we bring the authenticity into our food truck and to the food we serve and nothing less. And that’s what makes us different along with the struggles and obstacles we have dealt with.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
Orlando allowed an opportunity for my family and I since the moment I came here at the age of 18, and for that reason is why I love Orlando. Although Orlando is a dream, the traffic at times aren’t. I can’t say much bad about this city.
