Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica And Christina Fonseca.
Hi Jessica and Christina, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
We’ve always had a deep love for art, but I never imagined it could be a career. During the pandemic, Jess and I (Christina) moved to Louisiana to take care of Jess’s dad. It was a challenging time, but it led to an unexpected opportunity. A friend asked if we had ever painted windows and if we’d be willing to do it for her business. We took on the project and instantly fell in love with the process.
When we moved back to Florida, we knew we wanted to expand. On a vacation to Anna Maria Island, a friend who owns a coffee shop in Bradenton Beach asked us to paint her windows. This quickly turned into a two-week stay, as word spread and more businesses wanted our work. That was the turning point for us.
From there, the business really took off. We’ve had the chance to work on exciting projects in the Orlando area, including with well-known brands like Chick-fil-A, Dunkin’ Donuts, Foxtail Coffee, Buffalo Trace and Jack Daniel’s . Throughout this journey, we developed a strong desire to focus on murals. In 2024, the opportunity came to pivot in that direction, and it’s been an incredible experience.
Now, painting windows and murals has become more than just a job; it’s a way to connect with amazing businesses and bring their visions to life. This journey has taught me the importance of seizing opportunities, being adaptable, and following my passion, all of which I believe align perfectly with what we are bringing to this adventure.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
“It has definitely not been a smooth ride. Anyone who owns a small business will tell you that there are constant ups and downs. We’ve been incredibly fortunate to receive a lot of love and support from our community. However, we’ve faced our share of challenges, including encountering those who aren’t as supportive of our success.
What’s important, though, is focusing on what we can control—our reactions and the lessons we learn from each hurdle. Each obstacle presents an opportunity for growth and learning, and overcoming these challenges has been crucial to our development both personally and professionally.”
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
“As large scale artists, we specialize in windows, wall murals, and interactive murals for events and the community. We are passionate about making art accessible to everyone regardless of circumstances. Our work is primarily centered around collaboration with local businesses and our community, something we’re particularly passionate about. We’re known for our meticulous attention to detail and the crisp quality of our work, which really sets us apart in the industry.
One of the things we’re most proud of is what we’ve been able to achieve in such a short period of time. Just this year, we’ve had the opportunity to create murals for renowned clients like Jack Daniel’s, Buffalo Trace, Foxtail Coffee, and Chick-fil-A, and we’re only halfway through the year. It’s quite impressive and a testament to our dedication and the trust our clients place in us. Our commitment to quality and community connection truly distinguishes us in the field of large scale art.”
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson we’ve learned on our journey is to never give up on ourselves. It may sound cliché, but the reality is that no one else will fight as hard for us as we do for ourselves. In an industry that isn’t always fair, where connections sometimes matter as much as talent, it’s crucial to remember that this doesn’t define your worth or abilities.
We’ve also learned the importance of persistence; even when faced with setbacks, it’s essential to keep moving forward. By doing so, we’ve discovered the value of resilience and ultimately found where we truly belong. Embracing this mindset has been key to our growth and success.”
