Jessica Hesselton – Artist name (J.anne)

Hi Jessica, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
So I have been in the entertainment industry for quite some time. My first dance class I was five, I used to sit and watch Shirley Temple movies all day with my Nana and it made me want to start acting and dancing ,my first acting and modeling classes I did when I was about 12 and went to my first audition at 14.
I was always around Music in school and outside of school with my dad being a musician,,artist ,writer, & chef , I get much of my passion and inspiration from him. he has recently passed away, but that is my biggest motivation and inspiration to this day.
Being around the entertainment, industry and arts has been such a wild ride from doing plays, commercials, recitals performances, and just being on stage and in front of people has always been second nature to me.
As I grew older, I began writing more and more, and to this day have an entire book of poetry that I slowly started releasing with my spoken word, poetry, and my music. In an alongside art and entertainment, I’ve also been blessed with the opportunity to be able to learn about marketing promotions, and event coordinating in which I started to take interest in as well. Many people would say I am a Swiss Army knife, definitely an entrepreneur and live life to the fullest with all of the opportunities that I’ve been given to a brand, a name and a successful work ethic!
Just recently, I had became an executive producer of a media team. I still do spoken word and music performances. Alongside with my photography business. Life has been great. I am a single mom just trying to hustle and do the best I can.!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has definitely not been the smoothest, in life, inevitably you face obstacles. Just recently, the two closest people that I had my dad and my grandma who have been my motivation and my biggest inspiration have passed. It has been an emotional roller coaster.
They were always the ones coming to auditions, bringing me to all of my dance and acting and modeling classes, and they were just the best people I inspired to be like them as they were great human beings in general.
I will say being a single parent it has been tough to be able to designate time to pursuing my dreams, taking care of my child and I alone, but I wouldn’t change it for the world. It made me stronger and gave me the new perspective that I can do anything in life if I wanted to, and I just put my mind to it.! back in 2022 since we live in Florida, we had a few hurricanes where I almost lost my car. I lost my job. My child lost her schooling daycare and the place that I was living in that same year the closest people to me I reached out to my community and all of my business partners and they helped my daughter and I get back on track. I made a promise to myself that 2023 would be better. I ended up enrolling back in school for business management., landed a job at the radio station here in Daytona and was still a full-time mom. School and work were great experiences and I learned much from them. I created new opportunities and business endeavors with the position at work.! 2024. I said I was going to hit the ground running with all of the knowledge experience and struggles that I went through. I will take it and apply it to this year and ever since I’ve been nonstop.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I do my photography business, which is called color Cove studio, in which I offer photography, videography, graphic design, and design packages! I got into photography because I had experience with modeling being in front of the camera, and I wanted to broaden my horizons and try something new and get behind the lens! And I fell in love with it! Apart from my photography business, I also do singing and songwriting still in which I perform at showcases events open mics, etc. I also am a make up artist and special facts make up artist so that was an outlet for me to be creative and express myself in which I also make money from when booking for weddings, special occasions, and it’s been fun!
I think what I’m most known for is my performing and my
Work ethic! I am always on the go hustling and just wanting to make the most out of life! What set me apart is definitely my hustle my drive and ambition and how I build relationships with those around me!

Any big plans?
One of my biggest goals is to open a youth arts program or camp in which I can utilize all of my business knowledge and arts background and apply it and get back to my community and give the youth something to look forward to and learn about! I also wanted to open a coffee shop in honor of my dad who loved coffee, culture, and arts!
Those are both long-term bigger business goals, but as far as small business goals, I just hope to keep growing learning and continuing to be inspired by art!
