Conversations with Joe Cisneros

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joe Cisneros.

Hi Joe, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My career started 17 years ago with my decision to attend Cosmetology school in Tampa, FL. After completion, my goal of moving to NYC came true after 2 years of experience behind the styling chair. While living in NYC, my career led me to working with some of the fashion industries top designers including Sergio Guadarrama. Some of my celebrity clients have included Cazwell, Varsity Fanclub, Molly Shannon, Amber Rose, Helen Fielding, Sam Taylor-Johnson, Francis Ruffelle, Van Hansis, and Jaslene Gonzalez (America’s Next Top Model). My experiences lead me to London in late 2009 where I worked in the prestigious area of Primrose Hill. Working on editorial projects while living there built my foundation of knowledge for what was to come. In 2018 I decided to venture into starting my own salon from the ground up in Central Florida. Nestled in Lakeland, FL my ambition was to create an experience that no other salon had created before. With support from my mom, my dreams of opening my own salon came to light. Now after almost 4 years we continue to strive for the very best at Woodlund Salon. From the atmosphere and ambiance, the salon was carefully curated to provide every guest with a unique experience. Transporting them into what is a big city feel with every detail selected uniquely for them.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not always been a smooth ride in my career. However, through some early challenges of finding my feet in the industry of hair to moving across the pond to a new country. I have always tried to persevere through any challenge that has come my way. From my struggles of trying to acquire funding for my salon, to dealing with a pandemic that no one had planned for. My dreams have only been possible with support of mom and close friends.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a hairstylist/Makeup Artist of 17 years that has workin in both New York City and London. I thoroughly enjoy every aspect of my career, so I would say that I don’t specialize in just one specific thing. I love to be challenged, which has led me to explore my passions of makeup and fashion. I would say that I am best known for my unique and friendly personality. I always enjoy listening to my guests needs and concerns. My guests are the main reason I chose to open my own salon. Their experience and expectations were at the forefront of that decision. I am most proud of my staff, without their help and support, I would not be able to achieve my goals of providing exceptional service to my guests. My experiences around the world have helped to give me the knowledge I needed to know how to best run a salon. That is what I would say has set me apart from other salon owners in the area.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
My ability to listen to my guests needs. Helping to understand what they are truly looking for and making their dreams of beautiful hair come true. My passion for what I do has always been the most important thing to my success.

Jo stood out to me amongst 8 stylists when we purchased a business in Florida. Newly qualified his instant rapport with guests & willingness to work as a team. I always knew he would succeed in this industry and I’m so glad to see his dreams come true.
