Conversations with Jonathan Dorely

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jonathan Dorely

Hi Jonathan, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Fashion has always been something I gravitated towards since a young child. Growing up, I looked up to my parents because not only were they a big inspiration of mine but they helped me figure out exactly what I wanted to do with my life. They’ve always been self taught workers and high in fashion, so being inspired by them and this field of work is what guided me to create something of my own.

I started the brand Lordey back in 2015 with only custom ties and graphic t-shirts. My very first sale was to my friends, but I knew from there I had something more I could build on. As I continued to grow and create custom garments for people, I decided it’s time to expand my brand and make custom suits. That’s when everything changed and what led me to where I am today.

It undeniably wasn’t an easy road, but the trials and tribulations I endured got me to this point. Starting with understanding all fabric types and different style of suits, I learned that this was the route I wanted to take in making the finest custom suits for all types of occasions. From award ceremonies to weddings, I want my clients to look sharp on any type of day.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely has not always been the smoothest road from when I first started Lordey till now. Starting anything from the ground up will undoubtedly come with struggles but the key is to keep going and don’t let a small failure tear you away from reaching your goal.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
As a designer, I create custom clothes and I love what I do everyday. But what I specialize in and what I’m known for is making custom suits and I don’t stop there. When I’m creating a garment whether it’s someone’s first time or my wedding clients, I get to meet them and they always make me feel like I’m apart of their big day. That’s what I’m most proud of because they trust that I will deliver the exact vision they’re looking for.

On the other hand, what sets me apart from a lot of other creators in my field is that I give each client an experience that they would never forget. Something they will look back at and always remember and would want to do again. My brand LORDEY is for Royalty and that’s how we treat everyone that we encounter. We treat all our clients like the Kings & Queens that they are.

How do you define success?
Success to me is what you make it. Success might mean achieving financial ability, making a positive impact on others, or finding fulfillment and happiness and daily life. But ultimately success is about aligning your achievements with your values and what matters to you the most.
