Hi Journey, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Treats by Journey started just before the COVID-19 pandemic. The traditional 9-5 work structure could have appealed more to a free-spirited individual. I graduated high school in May 2019 and started college in June to study business management. By January 2020, I initiated sales of fresh fruits, gradually transitioning to candied fruits. The journey evolved with pop-up shops and catering for events and culminated in acquiring and fully converting a Mercedes Sprinter into my dessert truck.
It wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I’ve faced inevitable obstacles and challenges but embrace them as part of the journey. Amid the chaos of COVID-19, I was hospitalized and underwent emergency surgery due to a misdiagnosis, enduring two weeks of internal bleeding. After recovering in 2021, one of my TikToks showcasing a Ciroc creation went viral, gaining 75 thousand followers. Unfortunately, false reports led to the deletion of my Instagram, prompting me to restart my marketing efforts. Despite setbacks, I’ve organically reached 64k followers and continue to go viral, resilient against attempts to hinder my progress.
Let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I have a unique flair for business and design. I come from a strong family of entrepreneurs who instilled in me that spirit from a young age. Since I started my first YouTube channel at 18, I have evolved into an entrepreneur, influencer, author, course, content creator, facilitator, and marketer. I specialize in Candied Fruit Treats dipped in my original candy mixtures, available in the World’s Best Treat Truck! I take pride in generating passive, residual income and guiding my students nationwide to achieve similar success in their businesses. My talent and resilience during challenging times distinguish me, demonstrating a steadfast commitment to never give up.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
The keys to my success are honesty and integrity. Being trustworthy is paramount in business. A strong work ethic is also crucial, especially as a dedicated full-time working mom. I have to be organized and consistent.
