Conversations with Justin Ash

Today we’d like to introduce you to Justin Ash.

Hi Justin, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
D&J Aviation started out with a Cessna 152 Dave, my business partner, purchased after a bet that I wouldn’t teach him how to fly. I taught Dave how to fly and it took off from there. We added aircraft and started to build a great community of people who started flying with us.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been fun, but not always smooth, and definitely not easy. We have been blessed to be surrounded by hard-working people with a passion for what we do. You can see and feel this every day when you are around us. When you have great people like those at D&J it’s okay that it’s not always smooth sailing.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I started flying at a young age with my father. My dad was a passionate aviator and airline pilot. I went to school here in Florida and did my flight training while in college. I am currently flying as a Captain for a Major Airline, an Airline Transport Flight Instructor, and owner of D&J Aviation.

What sets us apart is our people. We have a group of passionate aviators with decades of experience. We value flying, not just the end goal. We have fun first and foremost and take care of our people and customers.

Our people strive to provide the best product at very reasonable rates. We are trying to set a better standard in the industry.

What do you think about happiness?
People and seeing people enjoy aviation with their friends and family. There is nothing like seeing someone take their friends and family on their first trip alone as a Pilot in Command. The freedom of flight is an amazing thing.
