Conversations with Justina Mann

Today we’d like to introduce you to Justina Mann.

Hi Justina, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Seasoned travel agent, rookie South Florida resident. I am so very appreciative for the opportunity to share a little bit about me with all of you.

Arguably the most popular question to ask a child is “what do you want to be when you grow up?”. The most common responses are doctor, astronaut, teacher. I would not be surprised to learn that “travel agent” has never been a response. As for me? I was all over the map, figuratively speaking. I didn’t know it then, all those years ago, just how important travel was to me. I remember thinking “When I grow up, I want to be a Marine Biologist”. “I want to be a professional basketball player”. “I want to be a photographer”. If you name it, it was probably on my list at some point. I constantly craved change and always knew I wanted more. Looking back at it now, I think I just loved the idea of trying something new, being someplace new, meeting someone new. All key components to travel. The most popular question I like to ask now is, “where is your favorite place to vacation?”. My answer is an oldie but goodie… “I haven’t been everywhere… but it’s on my list.”

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Does anything that is worth anything come with a smooth road? Of course not. It’s not meant to be easy, if it was then anyone could do it. It took me a long time to realize my love of travel had actually been a calling. I bounced around from job to job until I took the plunge of being a travel agent. The hardest part of this job is building your network. The majority of my clientele come from existing clients spreading my name or from once in a lifetime opportunities like this article. It took me almost three years to build steady clientele… and then the pandemic hit. I, like so many travel agents, had cancellations left and right and was left with no income for an entire year. Most people don’t realize that travel agents to do not get paid until their client travels. It was heartbreaking to spend so many hours canceling reservations after having spent so many hours creating the perfect itinerary. Some days are harder than others. Perseverance was, is and always will be a must.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Confucius once said “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life”. This holds true on so many levels. I am so proud to be part of the women-owned, run and operated travel agency known as Wish. Dream. Travel! I specialize in Walt Disney World vacations. Disney has always been special to me and since moving to South Florida my family and I now visit the parks multiple times per month. This has opened the door for exclusive training opportunities that help me better assist all of you. In addition to Disney World, I can book anything else Disney-related such as Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, Adventures by Disney, Disneyland Paris and more! I can also book other theme park vacations such as Universal Studios. I continue to book adult only vacations to Sandals All-Inclusive Resorts and family vacations to Beaches All-Inclusive Resorts (and many other all-inclusive vacations). I also work with vendors overseas to help create the perfect itinerary for you. The vacation possibilities are pretty much endless!! What sets me apart from others is the most amazing clientele and the greatest personal and professional support system. None of this is possible without the trust of my clients, the support from my incredible agency owners and coworkers or the outpouring support from my family. This combination truly instills a confidence I never knew I had until I started working with Wish. Dream. Travel!

What does success mean to you?
Being a successful travel agent is not measured simply by the number of trips you book. It is measured by your ability to adapt to each clients’ individual needs. Vacations are not one size fits all. Being able to empathize with each client is the most important thing. When a client takes the time to thank me for my knowledge and point out things they would have never thought of… that’s what makes me feel successful. When a client comes back to book another trip, or when they refer a friend… that’s what makes me feel successful. Some days I feel successful just because I was able to find and apply a discount they didn’t even knew existed (because hey! That’s what I do!).
