Today we’d like to introduce you to kwyp and the Orlando chapter President Kayla Boundy.
Hi Kayla, tell us what kwyp is and a little about who you are?
Keller Williams Young Professionals is an organization that began in 2016. It began as a national (and now internationally) organization built specifically for young professional leaders in the KW real estate industry. Our mission is to build the future leaders of tomorrow.
I am the president of the Orlando chapter and have been a member myself since summer 2018. I began the journey after seeing the value of the community through attending events with my mentor Kathryn Stelljes. Since joining in 2018 I have developed into a fierce leader on the operations side of the real estate industry. I collaborate with like-minded individuals across the country and have attributed so much growth to the masterminds and phone calls I’ve alone had with other young professional members.
Each year KW has a HUGE event called family reunion, at these events industry leaders share their ins and outs of their businesses, failures, and successes for all Industry professionals to learn from and implement what they can into their own business. KWYP has a special advantage during these events and we have the opportunity to be in a much smaller room with incredible leaders to learn one on one how we can, as young professionals, make an incredible impact in our lives and our future.
Here in Orlando on a local level, we have 23 members this year and we are setting to grow even more. Our mission is the same, to grow leaders of today and the future generation. We have education, social, and charity events we host on a monthly basis and we have a surplus of resources provided to us from national KWYP.
I continue to put myself into this world because it drives me to be my best and surround myself around those that want the best for themselves and other leaders in the world. Abundance over scarcity. Though I’m not a licensed realtor in Orlando I am 5 years in my career as a licensed operations manager for a real estate team and I cannot stress the importance of realizing your power as a leader no matter your role in any job. When you realize your importance, you realize your passion & once you have passion in what you do opportunities will come your way.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Don’t we all wish our journeys can be smooth lol
There has been trial and error throughout it all and I’m sure to face more as I continue to grow. Being a leader during the pandemic was a sure challenge, being a leader who is learning themself made it even more of a challenge. Luckily having the national kwyp people and my other yp friends across the country we were all able to lean on one another, shift to the zoom platform to remain engaged and connected and continue to grow ourselves and businesses.
One of the challenges one can face when becoming a leader is letting go of their ego. A leader is not always right and a leader is not a “my way or the highway” kind of person. Being a better listener, communicator, and person who comes from a place of understanding can be a challenge, and a challenge you can definitely grow yourself out of with the right resources, mentors, and open-mindedness to call yourself out when leading with your ego.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am the director of operations of the ThinkLiveBe team. I started as the executive assistant to realtor and team owner Kathryn Stelljes and together we evolved our two person team into a system and standards-based organization. On a day-to-day basis, I am the “whatever you need person” I lead the operations team in all aspects and support the sales team as much as possible. To use a train analogy, I am the one who is constantly throwing coal into the fire to keep the train moving, while ensure our tracks are clear, wheels are free of debris and rust, and our passengers are accommodated to and happy.
My team owner allows me to also coach other executive assistants across the country with Your Realty Leverage Coaching. All while being the president of our Orlando Kwyp chapter.
I am most proud of the partnership I have with our team owner Kathryn. I know we can NOT succeed alone and I am honored to have a leader who continues to push me into opportunity and to take on growth that I am passionate for. We set ourselves apart by doing what matters most to us by Thinking Big, Living with Purpose, and Being the best, we can #ThinkLiveBe
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
Y’all are still waiting for that bubble to explode again huh? We’ll I am not a realtor and I have no crystal ball but I can confidently assume the real estate industry will still be in existence and young professionals in this industry will be ready to take on and adapt to whatever is thrown our way. We’re constantly learning, reading, and empowering one another to do our best and breakthrough challenges. The real estate industry will always need humans who care and have knowledge in a local market so I really believe we can’t be killed off no matter what technology turns into decades from now. Kwyp in Orlando will continue to grow and create someone of the real estate industry’s leading professionals.
As far as my personal future, My partner and I are entering the new journey of becoming parents. With my partners constant love and support and family’s encouragement I will absolutely be continuing my passions in all that I do. Our team is growing, I have incredible clients that trust me, and I am surrounded by supportive and determined young professionals who I am honored to be in relationships with every single day. It’s going to be a bright 5-10 years all around
