Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelley Bell.
Hi Kelley, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I am a daughter of God, wife to an amazing husband, mother of four enjoyable boys, entrepreneur, Elder, Praise and Worship Leader, educator and Certified Life Coach.
Many of my friends call me “Kells”, and I am a native of Cleveland, Ohio. I moved to Orlando, Florida with my family during high school. After completing high school, I continued my love of learning by receiving a Bachelor’s of Science in Music Education from Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University, a Master’s of Art in Christian Studies from Luther Rice Seminary, a Master’s of Art in Teaching and Learning with a concentration in Educational Leadership from Liberty University, and a Life Coach Certification from Universal Coach Institute. I am currently enrolled in the Kingdom School of Ministry.
My passion for helping others started at an early age. This passion ignited my desire to become a teacher! As an educator, I have had many roles as a Music Teacher, Testing Coordinator, Dean, Parent Resource Teacher, and SAFE Coordinator (working with students who self-harm, have suicidal ideations, depression, anxiety, and other forms of trauma). I have had the privilege to help students and parents from the elementary, middle, and high school ranges.
Helping Wives:
I had to face the harsh reality that seven years into my marriage, I was not as good of a wife as I thought I was. My husband and I faced some challenges, but I was determined to never give up. I was eager to find like-minded women to talk to for advice. Some of the women I spoke to were not transparent, while others did not have applicable advice. Sometimes, women would direct me to scriptures from the Bible or tell me to pray about my marriage. I believe in the power of prayer, but I also knew that I must combine my faith with work.
I longed for someone to be transparent, non-judgmental, and able to teach me how to combine effective relationship skills with biblical principles. Unfortunately, I never found that person. Those feelings pushed me to do whatever it was going to take to create a thriving marriage. I started a journey with God that changed my life and my marriage! I never imagined that learning how to be a wife that resembled the love of God would draw me closer to God the way that it did. Once I created a thriving marriage, I wanted to help other women do the same.
Helping Mothers:
As a mother of four boys, getting a grasp on motherhood was initially a challenge for me; however, I was fortunate to have a great example of what motherhood should look like from watching my mom. She was, and still is, loving, kind, compassionate, giving, and nurturing. My siblings and I have the BEST relationship with her. I have learned that this is not the case for everyone. Some women do not have a positive relationship with their mothers. Some women do not like the example that their mother set. Other women are simply trying their best to balance motherhood with all of their other responsibilities.
I learned how to meet the individual needs of my children, how to set appropriate boundaries, create systems, create balance, and guide them (as best as I can) on their kingdom journey. Most importantly, I was able to build amazing and unique relationships with them. Simply stated, I love being a mom! Many women love being mothers, but they want and need non-judgmental support to guide them along the way. Being a good mom is not about being perfect; it is about being present.
I currently have a Coaching business, as well as a book titled God’s Marriage or My Marriage to help wives effectively combine biblical principles with effective relationship skills. I also have created a guide for mothers titled Raising Kingdom Minded children, which gives parents practical steps to implement with their children. I am on a mission to strengthen and repair families and I am willing to assist anyone who is ready!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
In some aspects, it has been smooth and in other’s it has not. Traveling this road, or should I say embracing this journey, takes a lot of work, time and energy. I’m not sure if I would call it a struggle but one thing I have to be intentional about is balance. While I am on a mission to help others, I still have a responsibility to making sure things are in order within my home while also balancing my career and church responsibilities. It can be A LOT at times but I have learned to be flexible.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I currently work in OCPS as a SAFE Coordinator where I work with students who deal with suicidal ideations, depression anxiety, or other forms of trauma. I provide students, along with their family members, resources and support to navigate through some of their most challenging times.
I also am the founder of Kelley Bell Consulting where I provide life coaching opportunities for wives, wives to be, and mothers. I also host a Podcast titled Pursue HER which provides mothers and wives with effective tips and strategies they can implement in their journey of marriage and/or motherhood. I have published my first book God’s Marriage or My Marriage which teaches wives how to combine biblical principles with effective relationship skills. The book also includes self-reflecting questions which allow the reader the opportunity to take everything that they have learned in the book and apply it to their journey. My latest product is a pdf download titled Raising Kingdom Minded Children which helps parents.
I also serve as a leader at my church as Praise and Worship Leader and one of the Elders at our Ministry.
I’m most proud of how efficient I am. I operate in excellence in all that I do. So no area I mentioned is done poorly. Let’s not forget that I still am a proud wife, mother of four boys, friend, daughter and sister!
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The importance of going at my own pace. There is no need to compare my journey with anyone else’s journey.
