Today we’d like to introduce you to Keneshia Brown-Ward.
Hi Keneshia, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My story began in May 2023, in a very personal and unexpected way—I gave my life to Jesus Christ right in my bedroom. I wasn’t raised in church, I wasn’t religious, and I had no idea that my life was about to change so dramatically. It felt like a moment of awakening, as if the blindfold had been lifted from my eyes. Everything shifted when I started walking with Christ.
Shortly after, the vision for what would become the Heart Check Podcast came to me. I had always enjoyed listening to podcasts, but never imagined hosting one myself. Still, I’ve always had a natural ability to connect with people—to have meaningful conversations, even with strangers. I now believe that was a God-given gift, and He simply brought it to the surface so it could be used for His glory, not mine.
What began as a podcast focused on mental health and family has evolved into the Heart Check Podcast—a Christ-centered platform that still touches on those themes, but always through the lens of faith. The journey has been a rollercoaster—from divine connections with people I never thought I’d meet, to learning the ins and outs of the Christian media space. More importantly, it’s taught me how to stay grounded and not stray from the narrow path God is leading me on.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Balancing the demands of filming, editing, and content creation around my daily life has been a journey in itself. I’m a wife and a mother of three, so finding consistent time to record can be challenging.
Another important aspect for me is preparation. Between episodes, I dedicate time to study and reflect because I want to make sure that what I share is rooted in truth and offers real solutions. I don’t take the platform lightly. Every conversation I host is intentional—I never want it to feel rushed or thrown together. It matters to me that listeners walk away with something meaningful and honest.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a Christian podcast host and videographer with a heart for meaningful, faith-centered storytelling. Through my podcast, Heart Check, I dive into honest conversations about Christ and what it truly looks like to walk with Him in our everyday lives—by taking time to examine the condition of our hearts.
Alongside my husband, I’m also a filmmaker and co-founder of our business, The Lofty Views, where we create timeless, cinematic wedding films that beautifully capture the love stories of our couples on their special day.
I’m most known for my rising podcast Heart Check, and I’m especially proud of it because it’s fully God-led. It’s not just about creating content—it’s about creating space for transformation, truth, and encouragement.
What sets me apart is that I’m a devoted follower of Christ—not just in words, but in how I live. I don’t shy away from sharing both the highs and the lows of my walk with God. I believe our generation needs to see what real, raw faith looks like, not just hear about it. Whether it’s behind the mic or behind the camera, everything I do is rooted in authenticity and a desire to reflect God’s love.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
What makes me truly happy is my family. Waking up each day to sunshine, the beauty of nature, and the incredible blessing of a family I get to love and steward fills me with joy. It’s a daily reminder of God’s goodness, and I’m deeply thankful for it.
