Conversations with Lisa Foster

Lisa Foster, Realtor® Preferred Real Estate Brokers, Orlando FL.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Foster.

Hi Lisa, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Real estate has been a meaningful journey for me, one that began after I was able to fully dedicate my energy to raising my children. As my oldest left for college, I knew it was time to focus on the next chapter of my life. A career in real estate had always been on my radar, and that moment felt like the right time to pursue it.

Having experienced two distinct seasons of adulthood, real estate has become exactly what I always believed it could be. Because my family moved frequently when I was a child, I became very familiar with the challenges and emotions that come with relocating—especially from a child’s perspective. I was also exposed early on to the home buying and building process, as my father often included me in those conversations.

Those experiences shaped my passion for helping families today. I understand both the excitement of finding a new home and the challenges of transitioning into a new community—for parents and children alike. Being part of a family’s journey through buying or selling a home is truly a privilege, and I value the opportunity to guide my clients with empathy, experience, and the perspective I’ve gained from both sides of the transaction.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Like any meaningful career, my journey in real estate has come with both challenges and growth. I entered the industry during the foreclosure crisis, a time when many people were uncertain and the market was especially difficult. Instead of viewing that period as a setback, I chose to see it as an opportunity to build a strong foundation.

When business was slow, I invested heavily in education, taking every class I could to strengthen my skills and truly understand the complexities of real estate. I wanted to be fully prepared—not just to close transactions, but to guide and protect my clients during some of the most important decisions of their lives.

When the market began to recover, I was ready. Those early challenges shaped my confidence, resilience, and work ethic, and they continue to influence how I serve my clients today. I believe those experiences taught me that growth often comes from adversity, and that preparation and perseverance create long-term success.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a residential real estate professional who specializes in guiding buyers and sellers through thoughtful, well-informed transactions. I work with a wide range of clients, including first-time buyers, growing families, and those navigating major life transitions. My approach is rooted in education, communication, and advocacy — ensuring my clients feel confident and supported every step of the way.
I’m known for my ability to simplify what can often feel like an overwhelming process. I take pride in explaining not just the “what,” but the “why,” so my clients can make decisions that truly align with their goals. Because of my background and experience across different market cycles, I’m able to anticipate challenges, navigate complexities, and adapt quickly to changing conditions.
What I’m most proud of is the trust my clients place in me. Many of my relationships extend well beyond a single transaction, and referrals and repeat business make up a large portion of my work — which I see as the greatest compliment. I believe real estate is deeply personal, and being invited into such an important chapter of someone’s life is a privilege I take seriously.
What sets me apart is my combination of experience, empathy, and preparation. Having entered the industry during a challenging market, I learned early on the importance of resilience and continuous education. I don’t take shortcuts, and I remain fully invested in my clients’ success long after closing day. My goal is not just to help people buy or sell a home, but to guide them with integrity, clarity, and care.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is that real success comes from serving people, not just closing transactions. Real estate is rarely just about a home — it’s about timing, family, dreams, and sometimes very difficult transitions. When I learned to slow down, listen more deeply, and truly understand what my clients needed, everything changed.

I’ve learned that preparation gives confidence, but compassion builds trust. Markets will shift and challenges will arise, but when clients feel supported, informed, and protected, they are empowered to move forward with clarity and peace of mind. Being that steady guide during moments of uncertainty has become the most meaningful part of my work.
