Today we’d like to introduce you to Luis Torres
Hi Luis, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started tattooing 4 years ago, but before that I was in the music business. Things didnt work out how I wanted to, but while I was tattooing I got the idea of combining tattoos with music. So I created “Behind The Ink” A social media platform and podcast where I show other artists tattoo work and artists new music. I started interviewing tattoo artists in Central Florida, where more artists now want to collaborate with us.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Theres been alot of struggles. From an idea I had 3-4 years ago, I finally got it going September of 2024, where the doors were for me by Andres Jaramillo, Legion and the Orlando Tattoo Show. I was able to make my first interviews. It took me a while to find hard working people who understood my vision and that were trustworthy. Thanks to my partners Bless and Alex, theyre able to help this brand grow.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Im a tattoo artist from “Tales From The Ink” in Kissimmee. I own the business with my co-partner Alejandro Maldonado (Alex) who also is my co-host for “Behind The Ink”. My style in tattoos is realism. But I always try to better my techniqueas as much as possible in all styles.
Im proud on how these great artists take there time to be interviewed and help this brand expand. They trust me on what Im doing and I love every minute of it. What sets me apart I can say is, even though I own a podcast. I make sure that everything is focused on the artists I interview. I make sure they look good so it could help them gain more clientele or more listeners.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
I listen to a lot of Gary V and other podcasts for motivation. And I watch alot of social media content for motivation and to keep myself updated to the latest trend, so I can better my brand. I also watch alot of interviewing podcasts like Molusco TV, Chente Ydrach, Kuzi and Joe Rogan to help better my skills as an interviewer.
