Today we’d like to introduce you to Melissa Salvador.
Hi Melissa, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Born in New Jersey, raised in Puerto Rico. I started my career focusing on business administration back in college. I moved to Florida in 2016. I was a retail manager but when Covid began I had my son and a little after I had my daughter. I really wanted to be there for my kids so I decided to be a stay at home mom. But I also wanted a career where I could create my own schedule without jeopardizing my family’s time. So I decided to get my real estate license. So basically from Retail to Realtor.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It really wasn’t easy. I remember wanting to quit a couple of times. Because I kept failing and doubting myself thinking that real estate wasn’t for me. It’s so true when they say that we are our own biggest critics. But I’m a big believer in prayers, having faith and trusting the process that everything happens for a reason.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a real estate agent. I specialize on first time homebuyers, people relocating to Florida, retirees that want to purchase homes in Florida. Investment purchases. Etc. I am most proud of my family. What sets me apart from others? I’m very caring. I think I care too much for others in a very good way. Everyone that I meet I care for. I treat them with kindness & love. I cheer people on! I like seeing people win that brings me so much joy!
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I think the first thing is to define your goals. Find someone that can guide you without losing who you are or where you want to go. It’s very important to impress yourself not others. What has worked for me is being consistent on everything my life, my content, my clients also, get out of your comfort zone.
