Conversations with Mia Peterson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mia Peterson.

Hi Mia, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today? You can include as little or as much detail as you’d like.

Absolutely! My journey as a plus-size model and influencer began in 2021, driven by a deep passion for modeling and a desire to inspire confidence in women everywhere. Before stepping into the modeling world, I had already established myself in the creative industry. In 2016, right after graduating college, I launched my graphic design business, Kween Graphics. Freelancing allowed me to blend my artistic passion with entrepreneurial spirit, and over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with fantastic clients.

Initially, I was unsure where to start with modeling, but in 2022, I found an incredible group called The Pretty Palace. This sisterhood provided a supportive environment that helped me grow and uplift others. The Pretty Palace isn’t just a group; it’s a community where confidence, beauty, and empowerment are celebrated.

I’m thankful for my journey and the opportunities I’ve been given, both in graphic design and as an influencer. My path has been about embracing who I am and inspiring others to do the same. From dazzling photo shoots to creating stunning designs with Kween Graphics, my story is one of breaking barriers and redefining beauty standards.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Oh, definitely not a smooth road! As a plus-size model, I’ve faced societal stereotypes and industry biases that often favor a narrower definition of beauty. Breaking through these barriers required a lot of resilience and a strong belief in my mission to redefine beauty standards. There were moments of self-doubt and obstacles in finding opportunities that truly embraced diversity.

To overcome these challenges, I focused on building a strong support network and continuously honing my skills. In 2022, I found an incredible group called The Pretty Palace. This sisterhood offered mentorship and encouragement, which was crucial. I also leveraged my graphic design expertise to create a unique personal brand that resonated with both clients and followers. By staying true to myself and advocating for inclusivity, I gradually carved out a space in the industry where diverse beauty is celebrated.

Looking ahead, I have some exciting goals for Kween Graphics. I aim to expand my business by offering more comprehensive design services and collaborating with other creatives to produce innovative and impactful work. Additionally, I plan to launch workshops and mentorship programs to support aspiring graphic designers and entrepreneurs. My vision is to create a platform that not only delivers stunning designs but also fosters a community of creativity and empowerment.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I wear a few different hats — I’m a graphic designer, model, brand ambassador, and digital content creator. Basically, if it involves creativity, good vibes, and a chance to make something pop, I’m in!

Design-wise, I specialize in bold, scroll-stopping visuals — mostly branding, social media content, and anything that needs a little extra spark. I love helping brands find their voice visually and stand out in a sea of sameness.

On the modeling and influencer side, I’ve had the chance to work with some really fun brands that align with who I am. I bring a lot of energy and authenticity to everything I do, and I think that’s what people connect with most. I’m not trying to be perfect — just real. As a plus-size model, I’m proud to represent beauty in all its forms and help shift the narrative around what confidence looks like. There’s so much power in showing up exactly as you are, and I love being part of that movement.

What I’m most proud of is that I’ve built this life and career staying true to myself. I don’t put myself in a box. One day I might be designing logos, the next I’m on set shooting a campaign, and the next I’m helping a brand tell its story online. I love the mix!

What sets me apart? I get both the creative and the branding side, and I bring a whole lot of heart to everything I do. I’m all about good energy, good work, and living every day like it’s my last. 💗

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Honestly? Being unapologetically me. I think the quality that’s helped me the most is authenticity. Whether I’m designing, modeling, or partnering with a brand, I show up with real energy, real personality, and real passion. People connect with that.

I don’t try to fit into a mold — especially as a plus-size model and creative. I embrace what makes me different, and I think that confidence naturally opens doors. On top of that, I’d say consistency and a strong work ethic are huge. I’m always pushing myself to level up, try new things, and stay true to my vision. That combo of heart, hustle, and authenticity? That’s my superpower.
