Conversations with Morgan Claytor

Today we’d like to introduce you to Morgan Claytor.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
A few years ago, my sister-in-law, Jo, took a trip out to California to visit her sister. She came back inspired by the family-friendly spaces on the West Coast that not only took into account the child’s experience but also the accompanying adult. We started a business plan for an indoor play space and the ball started rolling from there! Our project evolved over the course of 2 years, and we finally opened in January 2025.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Definitely not! Building a business is never smooth 🙂 But we have certainly found FLOW. We have met challenges head on and continued to push through when things got tough. Everything from finding our location to funding our project has had its own unique challenges, but we have noticed that when its the right thing there tends to be an ease that accompanies it.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I went to the University of Florida for graphic design and spent the first 19 years of my career as a designer. My husband and I designed brands like the Ravenous Pig and Cask and Larder, and got to work with some amazing local businesses on branding to websites and everything in between.

Jo has a background in sales, she’s my numbers gal. She is the hardest worker I know, and is hyper focused on creating a profitable, self-sustaining business model. She’s amazing and my perfect complement!

When we decided to open a cafe we had some combined experience in retail / hospitality but had been out of the game for a bit, so reentering was certainly interesting. But I’ve learned so much and love being in this industry.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
My advice would be to create a mission and stay focused on it. Its really easy to get off track and lose focus when you are working on a long term project, but like I said before when you find flow, you have to go with it! Its funny how the things that were right for us and our concept didn’t *feel* like work. It wasn’t something we pushed, but we did work hard to get there!

I wish I had known so much more, but some of this you really only learn by DOING. So although it has been a difficult process, I am grateful for all I have learned from trying something new 🙂
