Today we’d like to introduce you to Norita Bonita.
Hi Norita, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
When I realized I had a passion for makeup back in 2018-2019 I immediately started creating content. At the time, I would only take pictures and do live videos. But then when I discovered TikTok I started focusing on doing transition videos from regular to all glammed up. I never knew that what I was doing was called “content creation” I just did it to do it. When I saw how much people actually liked my personality and videos, that’s when I decided to take it more seriously and post consistently. I met with a few content creators and I learned a little more about social media and then decided to take it more seriously. People always ask me how I got such a huge following in such a short period of time and my answer is always the same and that’s to stay consistent. I would post 3 times a day 7 days a week until I got a few videos that hit over 2 million views and here I am now!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road for me. I’ve had many negative comments and sometimes they would be more than positive ones. Soon as I realized that not everyone is going to like my content and it was just their opinion, that’s when I started posting more and caring less. Once I started doing that the algorithm somehow found people who genuinely like and support my content.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
So with social media I’ve always been asked what my “niche” is and I can’t tell you. I’m Norita, I am my own niche. I’m funny, creative, and relatable. I specialize in providing content that people can relate and laugh to, while still showing different forms of myself. I am most proud of the confidence that I have built throughout the years in being a social media influencer because it’s easy to look confident but not as easy to feel so. I believe that my personality definitely sets me apart from others because when you look at my content 8 times out of 10 it’s not rehearsed. Creating content has come to me so naturally that I wish I started doing this sooner.
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
I’ve learned how important it is to be social. Before COVID I’ve always been social yes but not as social as I am now. Putting yourself out there is something everyone should try doing at least once because you never know who you can run into that can put you in the right rooms in life.
