Conversations with Paul Shaquille

Today we’d like to introduce you to Paul Shaquille.

Paul Shaquille

Hi Paul, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was born and raised in Puerto Rico and always had an interest in art. All my life, I’ve been surrounded by creativity.

I pursued a bachelor in fine arts and after graduating, I started my first apprenticeship in Puerto Rico. Due to a rough economic impact, I had to leave my homeland and put a hold on my tattoo journey for five years.

It was tough, especially moving out on my own, hardly knowing anybody. To survive, I had to suddenly stop getting involved with the arts to prioritize daily living.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Life is mostly about ups and downs, especially with having to leave your homeland; working numerous hours to just stand by, and feeling stuck. One day, I decided to finally do something for myself and started apprenticing in a local tattoo shop.

Even though it has been a bumpy ride, I continue to push myself and grow every day. I’m just here for the journey.

Currently, I’ve been tattooing since 2021, and it has been an eye-opener to finally achieve something that I’ve been wanting to do for years now.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I work at Evermore Tattoo Studio in Waterford Towers. The styles that I enjoy doing are American traditional, Neo-traditional, anime, and dark illustrative imagery.

The most gratifying thing about my career is that I’m able to hand make my client’s ideas to life. Every tattoo that I do is a new experience to learn more about my craft, learn about the person that’s sitting in my chair, and make each interaction personable.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
People can reach out to me via email at 3vilempyr@gmail.com.

Readers can support me by checking out my work on Instagram @evilempyr and if they’re planning to inquire, I’ll be more than happy to assist and make their ideas into a reality.
