Conversations with Rebekah Palmer

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebekah Palmer.

Hi Rebekah, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
Hey guys my name is Rebekah Palmer. I’m 29 I’m originally born and raised from Queens, NY. My parents moved to FL in 2000 I wanna say and then when 9/11 happened we moved back to NY to be with our family and we lasted maybe another year or so and then came back to Florida lol. So, I’ve been here ever since 2003/2004. I’ve pretty much always been based in central Florida and now reside in Osceola County. So anyway, back when covid first hit I was depressed and tired of being home. My anxiety was at an all-time high not knowing what was gonna happen next with our lives. My husband was one of the thousands of people that had gotten laid off from Disney and unemployment wasn’t getting to us. I decided then that I needed a backup plan. My best friend was the one that actually got me into lashing. She always had her lashes done and I was always like wow I wanna do that. Once covid lifted a little bit my best friend had actually sent me this girls IG profile and was like look she’s teaching classes I should do it. I had contemplated a lot because I was like I know me lol I know I’m gonna start doing it and then just stop. But little did I know I actually fell in love with it. It’s so soothing and calming to me. I love making women feel beautiful. I love telling them to open their eyes and see how they look. I’ve actually had clients cry to me and thank me for making them feel soooo good. And that’s what I love about it. That’s what keeps me going and wanting to book everyone lol.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been smooth at all. I’m a mom of 3 and a dog mom lol & a wife. I have a 9-year-old my son and a set of twin girls ages 5 going on 25 lol. I’m a wife & I also have another job. I work part-time for Nike. Juggling between taking care of my kids, my husband, my dog, my home, my other job it’s definitely a lot. I tend to struggle with learning how to balance it all and still remain calm lol. But what keeps me calm is lashing. I tend to tune everything out I get in my zone and just do what I do best. Lash

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
So, A. M. A Esthetics. It took me forever to get a name that stuck with me for my brand. I went through so many suggestions and crazy things before I found this perfect name for my brand. My name stands for my children initials. A for Ava, M for Mason, and A for Amaya. I am a licensed esthetician that specializes in lash extensions. I’m known for my lash sets. I also feel like I’m known for just being me lol. I don’t tone it down for anyone or anything. I like to be as real as they come. I am completely honesty with my clients and I feel like they really appreciate it. In the beauty industry, we tend to do what the client wants and nots what best for them. I have tons and tons of clients that always want the big mega sets but I’m known for letting them know hey, your lashes aren’t healthy enough and your last can’t handle that length/weight. Have I lost clients because of that? Oh yeah but it’s okay. I care way more about your lash health than money. I think that’s what sets me apart the most from other lash techs. The crazy part is that 80% of the time they come back and told me I was right lol. Most proud of brand wise, to be honesttttt Me I’m so proud of me. I’ve worked extremely hard in school to get my license. It wasn’t easy at all, but I did it. I started off lashing from in my living room corner on a massage bed lol and now I have my own in-home-based studio. As of right now my services are only lash extensions. With my esthetician license, I can do just about anything, waxing, facials, brows. But what I love to do is lashing.

What’s next?
So, for the future, I definitely want my own shop. That’s what I’m working towards now. I want a one-stop shop that has everything. I would like to have a nail artist in there, another esthetician to do facials, brows. I look forward to these upcoming months. I have finally decided that I’m going to take the next steps and quit my other job and put my all into lashing. I want to be completely focused on my lashing business.
