Today we’d like to introduce you to Renee Cuthbert.
Hi Renee, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My love for everything holistic healing started in my freshman year of high school back in 2015, which is when I learned tons about crystals, herbs and the whole nine. As I started my spiritual journey, my love for crystals only grew deeper and deeper, but finding authentic, ethically sourced, high-quality crystals were hard to find at first. Throughout my entire high school career, I worked more than I studied, and in my final two years of high school, its fair to say I was on the clock more hours than I was in school. I had three periods of a course called OJT, short for on-the-job training. I was working hard so I could save up for my first car and my phone bills.
During this period, I was learning western medicine and all things spiritual, and the further I walked down that path, the more I realized how much I disliked working for huge corporations that didn’t care about their consumer’s health or the mental health/wellbeing of their employees. Three years at BurgerFi, a year or so at a local acupuncture office in lake Mary, Lange’s Anti-Aging and Wellness, and eight months at Sprint lead me to one conclusion. I can live like this. I mean, sure, I can do it, but am I happy? Am I inspired? Am I doing what I love? And am I doing it with passion? In all of these places, I couldn’t answer yes to all of those questions. Now, today, a year after starting my own jewelry business, I can say yes to all of those things. Not only do I intend for my jewelry to aid in the healing of emotional and spiritual health, but I intend for my jewelry when worn to bring out that inner feminine energy, bring love and confidence to the places we may feel insecure about. I intend for the people who wear my jewelry to be empowered, to show love to their vessel through sacred adornment, and to feel the love radiating from each piece so that more love and healing energy can be spread throughout the collective.
While my “spiritual journey” may have consciously started in 2015, it has always been very important to me to spread extra love and positivity, to be a grateful child of the earth and what natural remedies and tools mother nature has to offer. My intention has always been to be the brightest light in what you may call a sea of darkness, yet I never knew how I could tangibly express that. BellanaeCO and each unique handmade piece is a tangible expression of that, and I am so so so thankful to have found a profession that I can answer yes to all those questions too. Hopefully, my work inspires many.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road hasn’t been smooth, but I won’t make any complaints. When I started the business, I invested nearly everything I had, and there have been times during the start-up of the business where reinvesting into the company is the only spending I got to do, but every last penny was worth it. I am extremely proud that I took the risk and followed my dreams. I’m not saying it’s going to be easy or that I’m in the clear of any hardships, but so far every hardship has been a lesson, and has molded me into someone who can continue to make the best decision I can with what I have, learn from the said event, and integrate new habits to avoid any further bumps in the road and how to handle them when they do arise.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I make wire-wrapped crystal jewelry, and I’m most known for the bracelets and pendants that I make. I’m most proud of the growth that I’ve made over this past year. When I started this business, I had to teach myself how to wire wrap, so creating things that I love and seeing other people love them too makes me absolutely so happy. My pieces are all unique and very flowy, meaning not all my pieces are symmetrical, more of just go with the flow kind of vibe.
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
I realized that it was the time for me to finally take a chance on myself, get my confidence level up and start my own business.
