Conversations with Rick Sare

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rick Sare.

Hi rick, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
OK here is like 15 paragraphs to make a short story long LOL for 30 years I was a truck driver and at the same time working for Google testing Google glasses for road safety and that’s kind of what sparked my imagination quite often. I created a few websites for app developers to develop for the product . That was the first time I actually thought about doing something on my own over the years became part of the Superman Museum in Metropolis Illinois as I worked throughout the country but I would say the ones that spark my imagination the most to be creative would be the owners of the Superman Museum we would go out late at night just sparking each other’s imaginations years passed and I had lots of opportunities to start a business in that town related to Superman and or the history of Metropolis and I never jumped on it. I was always told never pass up a great opportunity but I did like I’ve done so many in my life i’ve created products in my head and on paper and in design but never knew how to advance to the next stage the whole time I have been trying to grow a YouTube channel on Travel and tech and that’s basically what I’ve been doing for about the last eight years. It hasn’t really kicked off but I have quite a few videos in the can up until recently I had still been driving Truck trying to be creative while I drive for another company worried about changing my life and just letting it all go so I can have the time to actually become a real entrepreneur. The last four weeks has when it really kicked into gear it’s none of the stuff I thought I would ever be doing though I always thought I would be running my own Museum or travelling the globe as a nomad recording my adventures but nope, I have slowly merged into catering which is totally opposite of everything that I thought I would be getting myself into every time I would park my truck. I would hop in my car and I would do gig work like Uber eats? DoorDash rideshare networking with people I had in my car or restaurants? I was picking up at as the managers of the restaurants were getting to know me and we were becoming friendly. My girlfriend was already in the catering business delivering restaurants meals to doctors offices attorneys and things like that and I said you know what now is the time I think I’m done with Truck driving I think I could do this and so I started doing it 63 catering gigs in which is a very many I decided to start networking to restaurants that at the moment don’t do catering but have thought about it. Starting off with a barbecue place in Wildwood Florida I got my first job catering a few times with them on my own without working for anybody working just for myself. And it felt really good. It felt like I was creating something and here it is weeks later I’m hitting restaurants discussing possibilities of delivering their food to office personnel hospitals, lawyers, weddings or any event and it’s slowly coming together not having any knowledge on exactly what I’m doing and just winging it is working but not at a extremely fast pace which gives me time to grow. I just don’t want it to take forever, otherwise my brain comes up with new ideas of things I wanna do and it kind of clutters my brain. It has been an exciting journey travelling the globe trying to figure out what I wanna do the Internet spark your imagination the people you meet spark your imagination the friends that you make spark your imagination your family spark your imagination I have so many people in my head from over the years that I hear like an echo they just told me to keep going and going eventually one day I will find the one niche that will stick with me for the rest of my life and that’s what I’ve been doing and I’m gonna continue doing it. I’m like the hitchhiker the old TV show that just keeps going and going.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I don’t think it is a smooth road for anybody unless you’re born into it like a Hollywood Actor family. Definitely have been ups and downs not in my head. I attempt things and I go for it and if it doesn’t work, I move on. I’m happy that I attempted it, it’s not really in my head That the struggles happen. It’s been in friends and families heads that I need to stop the dreaming stop all this and just fit into society as normal but it’s really hard. I grew up at Disney kid in Southern California and I’m a Disney adult live in Orlando. Florida. Walt Disney has always been my inspiration Rashan along with walter knock walter knott. him and Walt Disney created competing theme parks just down the street from each other back when I was a child those two people sparked my imagination entrepreneurs that will never be out done dreamers and I’m sure both of their stories have run parallel to each other and I feel the same way. I just live in a different time now where the things they did are pretty much impossible today at least to that high standard I struggle with that trying to base my life on theirs and my creativity on theirs but the struggles, I don’t know, I don’t really have any in my head. I succeed every time I try something even if I fail I succeeded in at least trying.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
For the longest time I was known for driving my truck and doing road safety testing with tech. Now if I travel the globe like in the Philippines or Singapore or here in the United States sometimes I’ll be at Disney or Universal and I’ll get recognised and most of that recognition comes from YouTube, obviously especially people coming from other countries to go on vacation or holiday. They always watch a lot of YouTube videos before they come find out where the nicest hotels are the prices the food and other attractions that may not be theme park based and they usually run across my videos periodically no matter where they come from and I’ll be out and about walking around downtown Disney or City walk and a family will come up to me and want to take their picture with me they know who I am from that so I would assume Most people probably even though I don’t have very many subscribers I still get stopped quite often which is fun and exciting to know that globally people know me

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
That’s a good question at the moment I mean collaboration always on YouTube obviously but for business I’m still growing. Our new company is just basically starting we’re laying the ground work at the moment. My long-term goal is to get enough restaurants enthused about having a catering company deliver their food Start working with them create an application where people can sign up similar to DoorDash Uber easy cater but I want it for drivers buy drivers for real. I don’t wanna get greedy and I don’t know companies do this a lot companies will start off great but then they’ll change and it all becomes about the money When it should be about the worker as a company owner I don’t want to be greedy and take more than my fair share because in the long run eventually the workers are going to be doing the work and I’ll be doing the payroll in the hiring and firing and all that stuff their work is a lot harder keeping the company going. They should be paid more. I don’t want to get greedy and start taking more of a percentage every year Until they’re making very little and move onto the next craze so I really want to get the ball rolling as a small business website application on the phone delivering catering to the restaurants that are not large chains.
