Today we’d like to introduce you to Seven Nance.
Hi, Seven. I am so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
My introduction to music and entertainment began with my cousin Kayla’s Moe. Watching her manage her work sparked my initial interest. This exposure led me to join the studio and street teams for Po Folks Production, a neighborhood label where I immersed myself in the local music scene. However, I eventually stepped away from the music industry for a time. My passion was reignited when I reconnected with my uncle, Elliott Aiken, of Aiken Production. Together, we ventured into producing skits, comedy, and music, culminating in creating our show and brand, “Da Krazies.” This experience revitalized my love for the industry and set the stage for future endeavors. Building on this momentum, I collaborated with my brother, Louis Hicks, to establish Hustle By All Means Entertainment Inc. This label became a hub for our creative projects, seamlessly integrating music, movies, merchandise, and entertainment under one roof. This venture allowed me to take control of my creative output and share it with the world, embodying the essence of our brand’s name—hustling by all means. Now, leveraging all the knowledge and experience gained from the streets and life, I’ve embarked on my latest venture: Trap Retired Co., a clothing company designed for hustlers. Our brand reflects the lifestyle and stories of those who hustle, and it extends beyond fashion to include writing movies, sitcoms, and skits that highlight the same themes.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
In my experience, I’ve learned that whatever you are meant to become, you must first endure hardship. This suffering acts as a process that builds your character, resilience, discipline, and determination—qualities you will need along the journey. My path has been just that—a journey that started rough but, like sandpaper, becomes smoother with each step forward. It’s essential to fall in love with the journey, not just the finish line. Struggles include finding the right team, balancing life and the dream, and letting go of ego. It’s crucial to stay true to your values and principles, no matter the amount of money offered for services rendered or in life in general.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am 7’1 Spitta Seven, an artist with music available on all platforms, a label/brand owner, entertainer, writer, and facilitator of bringing the black experience into focus through film, music, clothing, and TV. I tell our stories and support homegrown independent artists on my Go Live Record visual platform. As the executive producer for Trap Retired TV, I collaborate with my uncle Elliott Aiken and my brother Hbam Bino to showcase artists and creatives, helping them grow in their craft across all fields.
While I’m most known for my height at 7’1, it is eclipsed by my hustle, drive, and know-how in creating and manifesting what I want in the material world. One of my proudest moments was being featured on my hometown national radio station, 103.5 The Beat, and talking to pioneers of the music game like Corey Miller, aka C-Murder. He gave me his stamp of approval, and I want to take a moment to say, “Free Cee,” as he still deals with the systemic injustice of the Louisiana prison system.
What distinguishes me from others is my mindset. Growing up in an environment where people often claimed that dreams were unattainable or that specific goals were out of reach, I cultivated a solution-oriented mentality early on. While many people concentrate on problems, I tackle these challenges by seeking solutions. This approach has been incredibly beneficial, as focusing solely on solutions enables me to discover them and avoid getting bogged down by negativity.
Networking and finding a mentor can positively impact one’s life and career. Any advice?
Regarding mentoring or networking, my advice is straightforward: Take action. By staying true to yourself and investing effort, you’ll naturally draw in your community—people who share your vision and want to evolve alongside you. As a creator, you’ll notice that brilliant minds gravitate towards each other and that solid teams pave the way for success. Don’t hesitate to engage with others or to showcase your talents, products, or creations. I’ve found that unexpected encounters can lead to life-changing opportunities.
