Today we’d like to introduce you to Sha Sparks
Hi Sha, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
After recovering from an abusive relationship, I decided to start counseling to heal from what I had been through and learn why I had been attracted to him in the first place. At the time, I was a hairstylist and would share with my hair clients what I was learning about myself. Most of what I was learning was to say what I mean, mean what I say, and not say it meanly to myself and others. I was learning to practice being vulnerable and asking for what I needed from friends and family. This was a game-changer for me. My clients listened to me and when they came back for their next appointment, they would share with me how what I said helped them shift the relationships in their lives. Then they would speak life into me by saying that I should become a coach and motivational speaker, write a book, and start a podcast. At first, I didn’t believe in the compliments they gave me. Then, I thought, what if they’re right? The worst thing that happened was that I learned a new skill. These clients’ words became the catalyst for me to change careers.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Many bumps in the road along the way. I struggle with imposter syndrome like most people do and have to learn how fear wants to stop us. That negative inner voice needed to be retrained so it would propel me forward rather than hold me back in fear. I started trying new things out of my comfort zone with curious exploration so I could learn more about myself rather than being worried if I knew what I was doing. I started journaling to retrain that inner voice into a positive one. Then I was able to give myself grace instead of berating myself for not being perfect. This one simple shift made my life 100% easier.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Naturally, as a creative person, I knew that I wanted to expand on what I do in the online space and at the same time be able to make a positive impact in other people’s lives. Being a Certified Fearless Living Coach and Trainer has been the turning point of what I do as a coach, author, and podcaster. In the last year, I have stepped into more of a professional speaker where I train on podcasting, leadership, and using your voice. I spark leaders to find, use, and share their voice through coaching, podcasts, and publications so that they are more fired up about their life and business.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Success is a relative term. I had to learn what success means to me on a deeper level in all areas of life, emotional, mental, spiritual, professional, and physical. When I reflect back to the growth that I have made along the way, success boils down to what gives me the most peace in these areas of life. Oftentimes, I ask myself these questions: How can I be at peace with where I am? What is it that I don’t know that I need to know in order to move forward? What is the most important thing for me to do today? How can I add value to the person in front of me?
