Today we’d like to introduce you to Shena Canty.

Hi Shena, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
After having my own band for three years, I decided to become an independent artist after about of depression, I decided to put that energy into my music. Which has led me to many successful opportunities.

Shena Samone is an extraordinarily, captivating Tampa-based music artist, performer and writer. She lives to share her passion for music and remarkable gift of sound with her community and fans. Known by her stage name, Shena Samone, her versatile musical path has taken her on an exceptionally diverse journey including lead and background vocalist, writer, and collaborator on many projects with producers, local and national artists. Her electrifying stage performances are accompanied by a variety of popular genres including R&B, House, Pop, Jazz and Reggae.

A pioneer at heart, Shena Samone established her own band called Smokey and the Angels where she performed as the lead vocalist and managed the group as they traveled across the Tampa Bay area and beyond, performing for various audiences. Recently, Shena Samone decided to expand her career by launching as a solo music artist and brand, and is excited to share her new music as well as her collaborations currently in the works with other artists and producers.

​Early on, Shena Samone began her music journey singing and performing in youth choruses, participating in the high school marching band and later on auditioning for American Idol, America’s Got Talent, and the Pussycat Dolls. She has advanced her musical pursuits with a degree in Music Technology and is pursuing another degree in Music Therapy.

Now that she has launched into her own individual artistry, as a solo artist, Shena Samone arrives on the music scene with much ferocity and focus. Her desire, is to touch people with her voice and talents, and help pave the way for aspiring artists who are also in pursuit of their own musical journey.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
So far it has been amazing, yes you have your ups and downs such as doubt and the fear of being vulnerable with your art. Who to trust in your journey is definitely a struggle.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a singer-songwriter what I feel sets me apart from others is, I create art and music, and merchandise with the want to heal others through my craft. I genuinely love creating music fame isn’t t important to me.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Be extremely tenacious, trust your gut when working with others, this has always worked for me. If it does not feel right to you walk away.
