Today we’d like to introduce you to Sophia Ortiz.
Hi Sophia, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for sharing your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
I started to get into nails because I needed help to do the designs I wanted and was bored during Covid. I’ve always been more creative, so once I started experimenting with designs, I fell in love with them. I never thought I’d become a nail tech, but friends and family started asking me to do their nails. I went and got my license, and now here I am.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My biggest struggle is confidence. I’ve always felt like I needed to do more and could always improve more. When I started at my salon, it was straight out of school, so I had no idea what to expect. Luckily I have amazing managers that helped me every step of the way.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in gel x nails. I’ve recently started adventuring into character art/ anime nails and have fallen in love. I love a good challenge, so doing different styles of nails is always fun. It’ll always be challenging, no matter how long I’ve done it. But what sets me apart is that I’m pretty versatile. I’ve always told my client my goal is never to say no to a design since that was why I started doing nails.
We love to hear about your fond memories of growing up.
I recommend the day we got my cat. My mom always said no animals in the house, so I couldn’t believe it when she finally gave in.
