Today we’d like to introduce you to Tamara Richardson.
Hi Tamara, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My mom use to braid my and my sister’s hair growing up. I watched closely and paid attention. I then began to pick up the combs and practice on myself, my mom, and doll heads.
Then my mom allowed me to help finish braiding my sister’s hair. I got serious with the business when I fell down hard no luck no money but I remembered my mom’s skill set she taught me.
Braiding has introduced me to other hairstyles and being self-taught I developed skills to see and mimic what styles I see. I want to give thanks to my mom because being a single mom that skill has saved me and I can make others look good while doing it.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It’s been great for the most part the struggles are small fixtures that I need to work on personally in life.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a hair braider. I specialize in locs, braids, natural hair, kids, knotless, etc. working on getting my cosmetology license to expand even more.
I’m known mostly for my braids I can really braid lol. I’m most proud of the part that I have a gifted talent that I can share and others can learn and grow from the skill. What set me aside from others is that I’m a single mom working from anywhere with my children next to me. My skills are a talent and I’m passionate about my art which makes my styles come out even better.
