Hi Tamia, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Jeremiah 29:11 – “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”
My journey began at a young age with my family as my first clients, which sparked my passion for cosmetology. While I took a brief pause during college to focus on completing my bachelor’s degree, I always knew I wanted to return to my craft. Now, as I pursue my master’s degree, I’ve fully committed myself to entrepreneurship in the beauty industry.
My business, Luxury & Opulence, will bring together several ventures that will all thrive by God’s grace. What sets my business apart is that God is at the forefront, guiding every decision and ensuring that everything is built on hard work, dedication, and faith. This isn’t just a business; it’s a testimony — one that will inspire others, offering hope and encouragement that if God can do it for me, He can do it for anyone.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a completely smooth road, but it hasn’t been overwhelmingly difficult either. The planning phase has been years in the making, and while I’ve always had the vision, the challenge has been translating that plan into action. On the one hand, I feel confident because I’m working with a clear roadmap, but on the other, there are struggles that come with the journey.
Staying encouraged through the ups and downs can be tough, especially when you face obstacles like financial constraints. Another challenge has been building a strong clientele. It’s not necessarily a difficulty, but I believe that with more consistent marketing, I can grow my client base more effectively. Getting your name out there and standing out in such a competitive industry requires continuous effort and strategy, but I’m confident that with persistence and faith, these challenges can be overcome.

I specialize in braiding, but my services extend beyond that to include nails, hairstyling, and more. While I’m known for my braiding skills, In the future I would like to offer a well-rounded beauty experience to my clients.
What I’m most proud of is the dedication and determination I’ve put into this journey. I’ve worked hard to get to where I am, and it’s incredibly fulfilling to see my business beginning to take shape. I’m also proud of what Luxury & Opulence is becoming — a brand that reflects not just beauty, but purpose and perseverance.
What sets me apart is the foundation of faith and hard work that drives my business. I’m not just offering a service; I’m building a brand that’s grounded in purpose and personal growth. I aim to create a space where clients feel valued and empowered, and where they can see that my success is a testament to what can be achieved through faith and commitment.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
What I like best about Orlando is that it feels like a home away from home. The sense of community is incredible, and the city offers so much to do, from world-renowned theme parks to great outlets for shopping. It’s not just a city for tourism, it’s a place where businesses can thrive and families and friends can create lasting memories.
As for what I like least, honestly, I have a hard time pinpointing a flaw in the city. While there are typical challenges of any large, growing urban area—like traffic during peak times—I really feel that Orlando’s charm and sense of community far outweigh any minor inconveniences. I’ve found it to be an incredibly welcoming and inspiring place overall.
