Today we’d like to introduce you to Tashawn Davis
Hi TaShawn, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I am a proud wife, mother of four, a grandmother of 7, and a registered nurse with 19 years of experience. But my journey began in a place where dreams seemed out of reach. I had my first child at just 12 years old, which thrust me into a life I wasn’t prepared for. Growing up in the ghetto, surrounded by poverty, addiction, and hopelessness, I believed that public assistance and $244 checks every two weeks were my future.
But God had a different plan.
Through a program called Work First, I was exposed to a different reality. One day, a woman spoke about becoming a nursing assistant with a passion that lit a fire in me. She said something that still resonates: “Don’t go into nursing for the money. You have to love people.” That moment planted a seed. I realized I could do more, be more, and help others break free from the cycles I saw every day.
I stepped into healthcare and never looked back. For nearly two decades, I’ve been empowering people to take control of their health, teaching them about insulin resistance and the power of low-carb, low-sugar living. Through my business, Health Beyond Weight Loss, I’ve witnessed incredible transformations: people reversing diabetes, improving autoimmune conditions, healing skin disorders, and achieving lasting weight loss.
Our impact goes beyond individual coaching. We host free educational events, like the upcoming December 27th class at the Alafaya Library, where we’ll provide a low-carb meal, dessert, and resources to inspire life-changing health journeys.
But my story doesn’t stop at health. In 2016, God gave me a vision to inspire others to dream again. What started as a vision board party for my birthday has grown into a movement—Write The Vision. Every quarter, we host events that encourage people to step into their God-given callings. From vision board retreats to back-to-school giveaways and Christmas blessings, we pour into the community through workshops, conferences, and creative showcases.
Since January, at least six people have launched businesses because of these events. Others are pursuing their gifts—singing, dancing, writing, and creating—with confidence and purpose. We’ve provided free tickets, resources, and platforms for new entrepreneurs and artists to shine.
This year alone, we’ve blessed 31 families for a total of 150 individuals with Christmas gifts, food, and joy. Every January, we kick off with vision boards to set the tone for the year, followed by Keep the Fire Burning in June, and our Fourth Quarter Game Plan – I Will NOT Fail Conference in October. While feeding the homeless monthly in Cocoa Village. This coming year, we’re excited to launch a new Write That Book Day Retreat, complete with a chartered bus, a lunch cruise in Clearwater, and hands-on book-writing workshops.
I’m passionate about giving back. Though my business isn’t a nonprofit, it’s a social entrepreneurship ministry. Much of what we earn goes back into the community, ensuring that we leave a legacy of hope, faith, and transformation.
When people ask how I do it all, I tell them it’s simple: I believe in the power of God’s vision and the beauty of walking in obedience. I want my story to inspire others to dream big, live boldly, and transform their lives and communities for His glory.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road hasn’t always been smooth, but it has been filled with lessons, growth, and God’s unwavering faithfulness.
In September 2023, I became the leader of a prayer team at my local church, and the Lord had already placed it on my heart to revive the vision board events. I approached the church with the idea, hoping to make it a part of their ministry, but they declined. While I was initially disappointed, I remembered that God had already shown me this was meant to be done under Write The Vision, so I moved forward in obedience.
As I prepared for the event, I encountered a series of challenges. I had been working with a chef at the venue, but communication abruptly stopped. When I followed up weeks before the event, I discovered the chef had quit, and the venue had no record of my information. Thankfully, the date was still available, but the price had increased by 25%, and the menu I had planned was no longer an option. I was devastated.
At the same time, registration was slow, and I struggled to meet the financial needs of the event. But in the middle of my doubt, a woman named Emmanuela registered, and her name reminded me of Emmanuel—”God with us.” It was a divine reminder that I wasn’t alone. Soon after, another registrant appeared with the name “Trust God Sis.” She registered as a vendor even though I had already closed vendor spots. The fact that her name aligned so perfectly with what I needed to hear was another clear sign from God to keep going.
Fast forward to the June event, and the challenges continued. Registration was again slow, and I faced uncertainty about whether this was still part of God’s plan for me. A highly anticipated speaker, a quadriplegic man who inspired many through skydiving and scuba diving, tragically passed away before the event. On top of this, I was still recovering from an $800 loss from a prior event.
In these moments, I questioned everything. But God continued to provide confirmation that I was on the right path. The June event ended up being packed, and it turned out beautifully, reaffirming that God’s plans are always greater than my fears.
My journey has been one of constant surrender and trust. There are times when I’ve asked, “God, are You sure?” but He always sends signs and confirmations to remind me that I’m walking in His will. For me, it’s an honor to serve Him in this way. I firmly believe that even when things seem to be falling apart, God is working behind the scenes to fulfill His promises.
I’ve learned that the safest and best place to be is in the will of God. And as I often remind myself: If it’s God’s will, it’s His bill.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a registered nurse with 19 years of experience, and I currently work in home care as an admissions nurse three days a week. I go from house to house, opening cases for home care patients and providing education and monitoring for a variety of needs, including IVs and wound care.
What sets me apart is my focus on lifestyle and dietary changes rather than just relying on medication. While I thoroughly educate my patients about their medications and ensure they’re taking them correctly, my biggest emphasis is on helping them understand how the foods they eat and avoid can impact their health. I take the time to sit with my patients, teaching them how to make better choices to improve their overall well-being, not just manage their symptoms.
What I’m most proud of is seeing patients truly respond to these interventions. There’s nothing more rewarding than witnessing someone reverse their diabetes, improve their heart condition, or regain the ability to enjoy life again. Hearing families share that their loved ones are now active, happy, and hopeful brings me so much joy. It’s not just about keeping them stable—it’s about giving them a better quality of life and restoring their sense of purpose.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, I was very shy, timid, and afraid of almost everything. You would never have caught me speaking in front of people or leading groups like I do now. I was afraid of being seen or judged, and it held me back in many ways. But deep down, I loved people and found joy in seeing them happy—I just didn’t know how to express it yet.
My childhood wasn’t easy. I had my first child at the age of 12 and my second at 15, which brought a lot of challenges and, unfortunately, judgment from others. Carrying the responsibility of being a young mother and navigating a world that wasn’t kind or understanding gave me a deep sense of shame. It made me retreat even more into my shell, afraid of what people thought of me.
At the same time, I always valued experiences over material things. I loved doing activities with people and seeing their joy—it gave me a sense of purpose even when I didn’t fully understand it. Looking back, I realize that the seed of my gifting to bring people together and inspire them was planted early, even if it took time to grow.
When I had my children, I began to see glimpses of that gifting. I discovered that I could teach, encourage, and bring people together, but it was still hard to step into that role because I was so afraid to speak. Over time, through life’s lessons and opportunities like those programs that showed me a different path, I realized that my fear didn’t have to define me.
Those early struggles gave me a passion for helping others find their voice and purpose, especially when life makes them feel small or unseen. I know what it feels like to live with shame, but I also know the joy of stepping into the person God created you to be. That journey has shaped everything I do today, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
