Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Treniece.
Hi Taylor, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Growing up, I’ve always loved speaking, sharing advice and helping others. In high school I had a passion for acting and was extremely active in my drama club. While enjoying the endless opportunities to perform on stage behind the scenes I also found myself mentoring and helping other young ladies find their way. In a sense I guess you could say I played that Big sister role often to other cast mates without even knowing it. Graduating and heading to college I found myself starting over. In this period of time, I really didn’t know who I was, or fully who God had created me to be. I always could imagine an idea of this amazing woman but never really knew how to reach her. While trying to find my way I began creating YouTube videos where I shared my love for makeup and fashion. Creating videos was always something that I did on and off but could never really stick to due to the busyness of class schedules, life, and if we could just be honest…. laziness and PROCRASTINATION!! Even struggling with this for some reason I could never seem to just give YouTube up, or let it go. I could tell God was drawing me to it for a specific purpose. Continuing through my college years, up to my Junior year I faced a lot of challenges and hardships that I would’ve never imagined happening to myself. Hitting the lowest of the low, I was forced to finally face things I had been running from and really ask myself “Who do you want to be?”. It took me a minute to really think about but I had to make the choice to stop being so afraid, placing myself in a box, trying to remain in the likeness of others, and choose to take a stance and be committed to the woman God said I would be. No matter who liked it or not. When following God’s path for your life sometimes it can be scary because the things that God shows you that you will do, you won’t always feel equipped enough or even worthy to take those things on. The funny thing about God is, He doesn’t call the qualified, he qualifies the called. I had to learn to never underestimate myself because with God ANYTHING is possible.
Deciding to take a chance on myself, the summer of 2017 God led me to create a mentorship group entitled “College Queens”. I gathered up incoming college freshman that I knew and held a brunch where they were able to receive advice about college, find community, make new friendships and network. Funny thing is a lot of these attendees were the SAME exact ladies I had mentored back in high school. Talk about full circle. I believed it was important to provide these young women with a safe haven and someone they felt comfortable talking to while they went through their college journeys. I wanted to be able to give these ladies something I didn’t have. If I could help and share the things that I wish someone would’ve told me before entering into college I decided I would do it 1000x again and again. I wanted the next young lady to be better than the mistakes that I made. I had become so passionate about progression and seeing every woman win in their own right. This event turned out so well and had set a secret fire in me that would soon become something greater.
Coming up on my Senior year of college I felt God tugging on me to get back focused on YouTube, and not just share my typical makeup tutorials but to really open up about myself personally, and start sharing my journey of growing back closer to God. I am not perfect and will never be, but by me opening up and sharing the trials and tribulations of truly living for God and understanding that your relationship with Him is not about perfection but about progression allowed people to relate to my journey, take from my mistakes, strengthen their journeys, and help them find their way back to God. NEVER did I think this would be my life or that God would use me to touch people in this way but like I said, God ultimately knows what he desires of you. After graduating from college with my Bachelors of Arts in Mass Communications I sought God on what to do next. Staying true to His word, instead of attending grad school I headed back home, got a job and kept YouTube as a side job. The words He told me when it came to YouTube was “Don’t think, just do it.”. Instantly I gained tunnel vision. I became very consistent in my uploads and wanted to show God how serious I took the opportunity He had placed in front of me. Laziness nor procrastination affected me any longer and I was more than committed. Overtime my YouTube began to grow and gain a lot more attraction. About a year ago God told me to officially quit my job and pursue YouTube full time. Once again, I was afraid, but was committed to the ride and trusted what God had for me. I have not been disappointed yet. Taking this path has really opened me up to so many opportunities and has allowed me to grow in so many ways. Being an entrepreneur/ content creator is not easy but surely worth it and very rewarding. Being able to wake up every day and be actively fulfilling purpose is something you can’t describe. I love the fact that I am able to do what’s most pleasing to God, and what is helping others find their way!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Well, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Let me be the first to tell you, when stepping out on faith and trusting God it can be the hardest thing to do because you are allowing God to be in FULL control and lead the way. When quitting my job, I thought I was crazy, but I was okay with it because I held on to the belief that God had greater for me. Besides the countless hours spent on filming and editing, the one thing that affected me the most when starting this process was feeling hidden. I know what God had placed inside of me, but it became challenging when I felt like others couldn’t see or let alone cared. Building a platform can be tricky because you never know what video or post is going to “hit”. Sometimes the engagement won’t always match the amount of work you put in, and you have to be okay with that. It’s very important for you to have a “why” and know that it isn’t about you, but who you’ve touched. Often times I’ve become frustrated and discouraged when I wouldn’t see the fruit of the seeds that I had sown. It had been YEARS of trial and error for me. Like how much more did I have to take until I’d see results?? I had to learn to stop being so focused on the numbers and to just focus on the content and let God do the rest. No matter what, as long as the content reached at least ONE person and helped someone I did my part. Like the saying goes, “What’s for me is for me and will never pass me by”. Now, videos I’ve filmed YEARS ago are gaining attraction from thousands. Sometimes God will take us through these specific stages to prune and perfect us. To make us the best that we can be before He is ready to place us on a platform and shine. And I am grateful for the process because it has strengthened me so much. Without it, I wouldn’t be who I am today. When you are in the waiting season don’t fight the pruning. You want to be your best self when your moment arrives. Although the pruning doesn’t feel good, know that it’s worth it and for your good. We might think we’re at our best, but know that God will always see something even better. Stay the course and keep going. Know in your heart that God is proud of you, is cheering you on at all times, and at the right time He will promote you.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a Christian Influencer and Content Creator that focuses on blending together Faith and Beauty. I am most known for living my life authentically on YouTube as a Christian woman, but showing that you can still be popping and keep God first. Often times people try to put a limit on Christians when God grants us life and life to the FULL. Our faith walk is not to be boring; we are called to live and be the light! I try to showcase that often in my content and I think that’s what my viewers love most. Some of my most viewed videos are the ones where I share my celibacy journey, my testimony, and the idea that it is okay to be a “Baddie” and be Godly. I am all for looking good and serving the Lord! LOL! Through my Advice videos, Girl chats, and Faith Talks I encourage women to see their worth, push for greater, and become all that God has called them to be. God has so much in store for us but it is only until we choose to take a hold of it, believe in it, and push for it that we are able to see it for ourselves. My goal is to help every woman be awaken to this. On my Instagram I also share plenty of Faith and Motivation content but still manage to serve a look or two. Let’s just say my followers get the best of both worlds! Through this journey I have managed to help so many women rediscover themselves and reignite their love for God and their foundation in Him. Ultimately, I know this is my purpose, and I won’t stop until every woman is healed, renewed, transformed and restored!
What’s next?
The future for me is looking pretty bright! I believe this is my season, and it is my time to do what I know I’ve been called to do. At the end of this month of January 2022 I will be orchestrating my very first woman’s conference entitled “The Becoming That Girl Women’s Retreat” along with 3 other women. This is something that God has been speaking to me to do for the longest and I am so excited that it is happening now! Within 3 days, we are helping women to redefine who That girl is within themselves in mind, body, and purpose! We will be equipping each young lady with the tools on how to be successful, walking fully in their God given purpose, set their goals and smash them! We want women to understand most where their help comes from, and that anything that flows from the hands of God FIRST shall prosper and be great! This is the ultimate way to start our new year right!
I also have a woman’s group entitled “That Girl in Purpose” that I co-founded about a year ago. After receiving a lot of feedback from women who watched my videos, they expressed how community was something they wish they had around them as they grew in their spiritual journeys. God placed it on my heart to create That girl in Purpose as an outlet where women can discover themselves in Gods eyes and not feel judged for it. This group is to encourage one another as we truly discover our purpose here on earth and walk in it! We have weekly discussions where we catch up and dive deeper into ourselves as women. Ultimately with every session we push to see growth within the ladies. My goal is to redefine what it means to be “That Girl” but in God, as a woman who walks and fulfills purpose unapologetically. We have an Instagram page where we post plenty of faith based inspirational and motivational content. It definitely serves as that extra push that you may need to keep going. This year of 2022, we are expanding TGIP as a brand. Lord willing membership will officially be open to the public year-round, and we are working to release merch very soon! In the end, God is SO good and I look forward to all the greatness that He has in store. So much has happened, but I am JUST getting started. If you have a dream, hold on tight and don’t let go because the possibilities of how God will bring it to pass are endless. NEVER think small, and know it is never too late. Your journey has only just begun!
