Conversations with Todd Schroth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Todd Schroth.

Hi Todd, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
As a second-generation Real Estate Agent, I’ve been in the game a long time, my entire life to be exact. Growing up with parents who sleep, eat, breathe Real Estate, it became the only life I knew. I started going on showings with my mom at a young age and my wheels were spinning about taking over the family business one day. In my early 20’s, I purchased investment properties and started there and started slow while still operating a call center business on my own. I dabbled a short time in the investor role flipping hundreds properties in a 5-year span before getting my Real Estate license in 2000 and committed to the business full time as a single agent. I was with RE/MAX from day one until a pivotal moment in 2018 when speaking with a colleague who is a well-developed leader in the business and that day changed our lives.

Shortly after, we announced our partnership with eXp Realty and our business and team has flourished since. We are currently running a team of 20 and growing every day with full-time operational staff and agents to manage the incoming leads while I focus on my sphere and past client production and growing our business. We gain valuable leaders and agents within our company on a daily basis and we share rather than run from each other, which is rare in the Real Estate world. We’re with a company that gives back, that shares, mastermind and collaborate together and that builds each other up, which is what we all need to grow. We couldn’t be happier with our partnership with eXp Realty, “once you see it – you can’t unsee it.” When not engaged in Real Estate, I like to spend my time with my family on the boat and involved in the kid’s sports activities, as well as continuously being an active advocate for our community of Wekiva.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It’s never a smooth road; Real Estate is a game. A strenuous, time-consuming, thrilling game. Some struggles throughout the years have been the changes in the market. You know, in 2007, we had an impactful crash, which resulted in a huge shift from traditional sales to short sales and foreclosures. Navigating those changes and learning those programs at the beginning was quite the struggle but resulted in a rush of business, which is great! And then most recently, a big change was COVID, not necessarily a negative struggle but certainly a struggle to keep up with business and shift to a seller’s market. Struggle for my buyers and a struggle for all Buyers Agents, in general, the last 6-9 months have been multiple offer situations, a lot of FHA & VA buyers not being able to compete and just a temporary struggle with some time management skills, but we’ve worked them through all.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in Residential Real Estate throughout the Central Florida area. We handle investments, traditional sales, short sales, foreclosures, relocation, move-up, move-down, senior sales – really any and all the above. We strive to be the local expert within our Wekiva community and the sale posts in the neighborhood prove it. What sets us apart from other Real Estate teams is our “small-family-style” team; we pride ourselves with the likability within our group and our urge to always lend a helping hand to our family/team.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Some advice for those starting out, I would encourage them to find someone they can mentor, find a team lead that can help coach you and guide you through all the steps in the real world when it comes to Real Estate. You can only learn so much from a book and tests. You need someone who is willing to let you walk hand in hand with them or who has a team behind them with the ability to coach and help you learn in grow in the field. When we onboard agents, we have a dedicated Director of Operations who takes them through each step of our platforms and systems. Then a leadership agent or the team lead takes the agent from there with a one-on-one series for 4 weeks to help develop their business and knowledge. We don’t throw you in the lion’s den, we’re all here to succeed and we’re here to excel your business with you.
