Conversations with Vanessa White

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vanessa White.

Hi Vanessa, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started as a child. I grew up in a very big Puerto Rican family. We were always having parties. I’ve always been into art and designing so my love for both pretty much came together. I knew I would be planning when my parents gave me cash for my 16th birthday and I used it to throw myself a sweet 16 lol. I’ve been planning, designing, and adding things under my belt ever since. Like cake and treats, again my passion for art made me try it out and I just kept on until I got better. Now I’m making amazing art pieces out of cakes, designing amazing events and I absolutely love it!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road to success is never an easy one that’s for sure! From no support, a growing family, and a lack of finances I pretty much have faced it all but my passion and my family keep me going. I’ve never been the type that has ever wanted to work for someone else and I’ve always wanted to make sure my kids were my top priority. I didn’t want daycares or nannies raising my children so working from home gave me that freedom. I still face some struggles, not to mention the pandemic we all are dealing with but I keep pushing.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am an artist! I specialize in event planning, event design (decor), custom cakes, and treats. I love taking my clients’ vision and creating something magical. I’m most proud of how happy my clients are! I love each and every one of my clients who have worked with me. They are special to me in some way and have worked with me on numerous occasions. I think what sets me apart from others is my passion for my craft! Even through the various struggles and the pandemic, we are currently facing, my passion for what I do doesn’t change. A lot of people think what I do is easy. They try to start their own business, then they realize it’s not as easy as it seems. Their business is short-lived because many don’t have the passion, patience, and dedication that I have towards my business and my clients.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I don’t think I’ve had good luck or bad luck. I do believe I’ve been very blessed to have the talent God has given me. I also have taken the time to perfect my craft and work on areas that I needed to improve on. Honestly, I am blessed to have people that trust and believe in me and the vision for my business. I am grateful to have people that love me and help grow my business to where I dream for it to be.
