Today we’d like to introduce you to Yvona Gonzalez.
Hi Yvona, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I have been a dancer my entire life and hold a degree in Dance Performance from Valencia College. Growing up with a single mother, I dreamed of opening a studio of my own to give back to my community and create opportunities for those with limited access to the arts. I spent 13 years teaching children, where I discovered my passion for guiding others.
After experiencing injuries and personal health challenges, I expanded my skills by becoming certified in personal training, holistic nutrition, and mobility and flexibility coaching. In 2018, I took my first pole class and everything changed. Pole transformed my strength, confidence, and teaching style in ways I never expected. Today, I work with adults of all ages, backgrounds, and genders who are looking to build strength, confidence, and self-trust. Three years ago, I opened my pole and aerial studio to provide a safe, empowering space where anyone can explore movement and discover what their body is capable of. Witnessing the moment a student realizes what they can achieve is one of the most rewarding parts of my life and career. The most beautiful part of this journey is being able to share this space with my mother who has a passion in photography. Our studio offers more than just dance classes, we have a full equipped photography room for creators to expand in their craft, as well as, host networking events for models and photographers.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There always ups and downs when owning a business. Especially during holiday season I would say is slow for most businesses. Other than that it has all been about trial and error seeing what works best and what doesn’t.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a pole and dance fitness instructor who teaches a variety of dance styles to help individuals feel strong, confident, and empowered in their own skin. My goal is to make movement fun while building real strength and skill.
I am most proud of watching my students succeed. There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing their eyes light up when they accomplish something new.
What sets me apart is my attention to detail and my emphasis on technique and conditioning drills. Having experienced injuries and my own health concerns, I’ve made it my mission to help others move safely, prevent setbacks, and build their strongest selves.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I see global retreats for the future and a bigger online community!
