Today we’d like to introduce you to Adina Kajoy.
Thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, how did you get started?
It started when I was a little girl raised by a Jamaican family that cultivated and nurtured the space for me to be introduced to my talents! I loved dancing and doing hair; my family was a huge influence! As a young girl, I was timid, and although I loved dancing, my shyness overtook me! I must acknowledge my older sister for literally and physically pushing me to dance when it was time for me to!
Once I overcame my shyness, I could authentically share my talents with my friends, family, and community throughout my life. In return, their acknowledgments and compliments pushed me to showcase it more! This helped birth AdinaDidIt Studios, a studio that offered beauty services, entertainment, and community partnership that has been going 8.5 years strong! My talents introduced me to runway modeling, which led to model coordinating, assisting fashion designers, radio talk show host, event hosting, and runway choreography, which was bliss because I could merge the new talents with the original talents! Interesting enough, I appeared to be confident, because I could showcase my talents, the truth was I believed in my talents, and in myself! Trusting, in one of my leaders, who saw so much in me, opened the doors for my talents to expand. The expansion led to my daughter and I dancing, modeling, and being a part of The Flavor-Aide Kids Playhouse Radio Show on Stellar Award Winning radio station WOKB1680am together!
In 2021, God sent a runway platform for me to blossom into a higher version of myself! I was experiencing a major life change as I was separating from my husband and relationship of 15 years. Instead of experiencing depression and self-doubt, God used the fashion platform and my talents to remind me of my greatness, my capabilities, and my worth. I was able to positively impact aspiring models on their journey, some who were experiencing similar life changes! My pain helped me get in alignment with my purpose, which helped me blossom into, the version of myself I was becoming!
I decided to enroll in Sacred Woman, a program created by Queen Afua to heal the feminine mind, body, and soul through ancient, holistic African lifestyle! This slowly transformed my entire life, clearing the chaos, healing the wounds, and allowing me to birth many creations, one of them being OWWN (Optimistic Weleful Wombman Navigate) YOUR RUNWAY, a training program teaching aspiring models how to build unstoppable confidence while learning runway techniques. I realized that I had the power to align with phenomenal women from all walks of life, and created a safe space for them to take off their capes, to fill their cups up and tap into the powers they weren’t connected to! I was also reunited with my childhood passion for teaching, an overlooked talent, that was always there helping me ride this journey and contributing to my leadership! The crazy part is that I’ve accomplished all this by mothering 2 beautiful, active children at 36, and I can say this is only the beginning! The moral of my story is it doesn’t take brains and money to succeed; your gifts and talents will always make way for you when you stay focused on them! Throughout the years, the noise of choosing only one talent, never sat right with me! Authentically and unapologetically expressing my talents created healing throughout my life, allowing me to experience Joy throughout my journey! Accepting all of me created my ideology that our talents make us unique and allow us to stand apart from the rest! Connecting to your talents is how the Most High helps us connect to our purpose, his powerful source, and our powerful source within! I heard a great saying that went like this; “Our talents attract people to us while our “calling” attracts people to God! Use your talents wisely!
Alright, let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
Heck no, it hasn’t been a smooth ride! There have been bumps, hills, valleys, hurricanes, and even tornadoes! Most of my struggle came from the lack of unstoppable self-confidence, the lack of self-love, and having a very unhealthy self-relationship! Not to mention the need for validation from the ones I loved the most! Not aligning with myself and having an unhealthy self-relationship created a false reality, connecting me to people, habits, and projects that did not promote my higher self.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a creative storehouse, whose talents create an energetic transformation, that purposefully ignites supernatural powers, by connecting you to unstoppable confidence and your sacred self-reliance through the act of sacred selfishness! Born a creative soul, I became a hairstylist and founded Adinadidit Studios. As a professional dancer and accumulating, over 12 years of experience in the Fashion Industry, I accomplished becoming a Top 10 USA Model during New York Fashion Week Fall 2021, magazine publications, billboard exposure, speaking engagements, event hosting, former radio personality, and so much more! My experience as a model on the runway, Designer Assistant, Fashion Show Coordinator, Backstage Manager, Runway Choreographer, and award-winning celebrity Hairstylist has led me to uniquely help others transform and promote self-love while bringing their visions to life. These experiences helped me birth OWWN (Optimistic, Weleful, Wombman, Navigate) YOUR RUNWAY, a training program teaching aspiring models and women, how to build unstoppable confidence and runway techniques.
As a mother of 2 outstanding children, I have always had a special place in my heart to work with children of all ages and help them connect to their voice and confidence and express their powerful creativity! They can start living their dreams now instead of waiting until adulthood! I created a platform called IMA (Innovative Mothers Advanced) Business Baby, where I helped everyday kids, transform into young entrepreneurs and held a market for them to sell their items and services, ran completely by kids! I am also part of a non-profit that owns a 6-12 private school called Colossus Private School in Orlando, FL, that focuses on bridging the economic gap, by using technology and preparing underprivileged children with the education and skillsets that will allow them to be successful despite their circumstances!
My faith allows me to overcome all adversity, so I can continue to align with my ultimate purpose by using my gifts to help creatives of all walks of life learn to OWWN their Runway of Life! Combining all my experiences and overcoming life’s challenges makes me unique, allowing me to give extraordinary service no matter what you receive! I am so proud of my healing journey because, from the luxury beauty services, specializing in extensions, color, and healthy hair, to the fashion services mentioned above, including group sessions, one-on-one modeling training, directing fashion programs, to simply inspiring and motivating people to be the best versions of themselves, allows me to leave a long-lasting expression of love, excellence, and authenticity!
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I see OWWN YOUR RUNWAY ACADEMY becoming an accredited modeling and self-love school! I also see the birth of a “SACREDnessCITY, a community or city of women who have embodied their sacredness by creating healing for themselves and others! Ultimately, I see myself continuing to heal and flow in alignment with my Creator/Creatress and higher self.
