Daily Inspiration: Meet Alex Fasulo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex Fasulo.

Hi Alex, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In 2015, after graduating from college, I went to work at a corporate PR job in NYC. I quit it after only 4-weeks, quickly realizing working a 9-to-5 was not for me. With no plan or money saved, I naturally panicked, and tried out a bunch of different side hustles, from designing websites to managing social media accounts. What surprisingly took off for me, though, was freelance writing on a site called Fiverr. Nearly 8-years later, I am still freelance writing on Fiverr, now with my own copywriting agency, social media brand ‘Alex Fasulo LLC,’ and podcast ‘The Freelance Fairytales.’

My first year on Fiverr, I made close to $36,000 writing anything from blog posts and press releases to website copy. The next year, my income doubled, and by 2018, I had joined the new Fiverr PRO program (top 1% of the platform), which quadrupled my income to $273,000 that year. Making that kind of money at age 25 was shocking, humbling, and not without its challenges and plenty of internet hate. I scaled the business up to $400,000 in 2021 and decided to hire an agency manager, who happens to be my best friend, as well as six freelance writers. Pivoting away from writing all day and all night, I launched an influencer brand that revolves around providing freelancing education to anyone looking to pursue this kind of life. With my saved money, I began to invest in real estate, now owning three properties in Florida (two in Miami and one in Ft Myers). I also got my real estate license this year in 2022 so I can learn about referrals and provide new education to my followers.

I have close to 900,000 social media followers across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, and Pinterest, and I have my first official book ‘Freelance Your Way to Freedom’ coming out October 2022 with Wiley Publishing.

I believe that financial freedom comes from side hustles and multiple streams of income. It is my utmost passion to share what I have learned with as many people as possible so they can break out of the rat race and truly build wealth. A big part of my brand is also rooted in spirituality and encouraging people to live their divine purposes.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely has not been smooth haha!

1) Quitting my job at 22 years old with no money saved was terrifying. But I did it anyway – and I am so glad I did. None of this would have happened for me. Taking risks pays off.

2) I have received a lot of online hate over the years. It has been hard to stomach it and not care.

3) I have had failed business concepts, like a photo map app I tried to launch in 2019. But I don’t mind failure – it helps me identify what IS working.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am most well-known for being a Fiverr freelance writer whose profile has made over $1.4 million to date. I will be an author this fall when my first book ‘Freelance Your Way to Freedom’ comes out with Wiley Publishing.

I am most proud of defying societal norms to quit a corporate job, work for myself, and pursue writing, which most people told me would pay ‘nothing.’ I have discovered freelance writing pays very well, and I share this knowledge with people on social media so they can do it, too.

I think what sets me apart from others is being fearless and not afraid to take risks.

Any big plans?
I am very excited for my first official book, Freelance Your Way to Freedom, coming out this October 2022! I would love to write dozens of books – my goal is to write 20+ books on everything from business and money, to mindset and being a woman in the entrepreneurial world. I would also like to grow my podcast and become known as one of the go-to figures on the gig economy. Other than that, I am very fluid with what God brings my way!
