Daily Inspiration: Meet Amanda Millien

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Millien

Hi Amanda, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started on YouTube in 2007 doing music covers but at 13 I just didn’t have the confidence I needed to keep posting. In 2011 I dropped out of high school with the dream of getting into a creative career as a singer starting again with YouTube but still couldn’t muster up the courage to go all in. In 2016 when my father was exonerated I jumped into content creation once again but this time as an outlet after being kicked out which led to the start of my blog “A Roses Rise”. This was a blog that followed my mental health journey as I navigated to find a place to live and what I was feeling at the time. I also shared my love for beauty and music. During that time I learned how to design a WordPress site, which I genuinely loved! A few years later in 2019, I joined The Coexist Project, a Philly nonprofit, as their social media manager which turned into a video editing/graphic design volunteer gig. When it was time to build their website they hired a well-known platform that couldn’t bring their vision to life. I volunteered to fix the site and then realized people are getting paid to produce horrible websites meanwhile I’m sitting on this skill that I genuinely enjoy. In 2022 I became a mom and was laid off during maternity leave. At that point, I decided I would relaunch my freelance business as a designer instead of a social media manager. Ultimately I loved hearing how much the nonprofit valued my work and hearing the people around them compliment their brands’ visuals. In January 2024 while pregnant with my 2nd I decided to finally register my llc and go all in as a creative studio. Postpartum can leave you feeling out of place in so many areas of life which is why I’ve pivoted to focus on brand/web design for creatives and service providers wanting to rebrand after 3+ years in business. Millien Media Creative Studio is the evidence of my passion for visual storytelling. I love creating video and written content. Everything I have done from YouTube to blogging has led up to this era of my life. I love visual storytelling! It makes sense why branding and web design are the services I offer. I’m also finally reviving these passions with a new YouTube series The Creative Cool Mom Diaries and a blog that shares my journey as I build my business with 2 girls under 3 years old.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road at all! I’ve struggled with finding a healthy balance as a homeowner, wife, business owner, and mother. As a mom in her postpartum journey a lot of times we struggle to accept this new identity and that has been no different for me. Building a business with two little and clingy babies has been a struggle for several reasons. I realize the fast-paced New Yorker in me had to slow down a lot. In no way did this mean a total halt of my dreams to be an entrepreneur but a slower pace that the go-getter in me still struggles with. They say it takes a village and right now my village only consists of my husband, my mom, and myself which makes building a business from the ground up that much harder. Right now, as I share this story, I have a toddler in the middle of a full-blown tantrum and a 10-month-old on my lap trying to nurse. This year I’ve decided to take a family-first approach to building my business which just means I give my work my undivided attention until 1 pm Monday-Thursday and the rest of the day while my husband works I’m focused on being the best mom to my girls. Being the first business owner in our family has also come with struggles. There is no one to tell you this is how I did it or how much goes into it from investment to time so then you’re left having to outsource your advice which most times costs.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m the founder of Millien Media Creative Studio, specializing in branding and web design for business owners who’ve outgrown their original look and need something that reflects their expertise. This not only helps them attract the right clients but also opens doors to opportunities beyond just booking out their services. My approach is strategic and intentional; every design choice is made to support the brand’s growth, not just to look good.

I’m known for creating branding that feels like home. My clients don’t just walk away with a logo and a website; they leave with a brand they’re excited to share, one that gives them the confidence to step fully into their business’s new era.

I didn’t start as a designer; I started as a content creator and storyteller. From YouTube to blogging, I’ve always been drawn to the power of visuals and words working together to create something meaningful. I’ve also seen firsthand how many businesses invest in branding and websites that don’t actually serve them. My work is about creating a brand experience that works.

That’s exactly why I created Brand Nuevo, a rebrand experience designed for business owners who feel out of place in their brand and want to rebuild with an identity that fully represents them today. It’s built for creatives and service providers ready to show up with confidence and attract the right opportunities.

The moment when a client sees their new brand and says, “This finally feels like ME.” That’s the magic. That’s the transformation. I’m most proud of helping creatives and service providers step into a brand that aligns with who they are today.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Resilience is the foundation of my business and creative process. My journey hasn’t been linear. There have been pivots, challenges, and moments that tested my confidence. But every shift and reinvention has made me a stronger designer and strategist.

That same resilience is why I focus on rebranding for evolved business owners. I know what it’s like to outgrow a version of yourself and have to build something new from the ground up. I bring that mindset into my work helping my clients embrace change, own their evolution, and create a brand that reflects who they are today.
