Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Stanhope.
Hi Amanda, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Going from the glamorous life of the hair and makeup industry to getting down in the dirt in the plant community has made me finally find a space where I belong.
I’ve always been into houseplants, whether I could keep them alive or not. Houseplants for me give me an outlet to share a passion for not only plants, but for home decor and mental health awareness, while keeping the focus on houseplants.
I’ve always had an eye for DIYs as well which made me want to open my Etsy shop. Creating suncatchers and houseplant accessories has helped me maintain and even expand my creativity.
I’m an advocate for anyone to become a plant parent – because everyone has a green thumb. I love sharing my houseplant care tips and experiences through my blog and YouTube channel.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Being my own boss was something I’ve always wanted to do, but it’s not always easy as it seems. Learning how to be more self-disciplined was something I had to overcome.
Even though I try to maintain a positive outlook, social media comes with its self-doubts and imposter syndrome at times. Learning how to see the signs and address them has helped so much.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My specialty is houseplants and helping others become successful plant parents. Nothing makes me more proud than to hear or see someone become successful on their plant journey. Not only do I help people care for plants with my own experiences but I’m also transparent and real about my plant budget, and how to create a beautiful home jungle without going broke.
My Etsy shop has also given me a sense of pride, with every “Ka-ching” I hear on my phone, I can’t help but smile.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I wouldn’t call myself lucky in any way, I’ve worked hard to get where I am. But I feel like I’m lucky to be where I am today.
