Today we’d like to introduce you to Barbie Groeninger.
Hi Barbie , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
No Clue was born out of a large chain of events that began years back, that has coincidentally -and spiritually- brought Me, Jose, and Luis together. When bands first start out especially when they are smaller they go through lots of change, which is something No Clue was not able to escape from either. We’ve had members come in and out of the band like a revolving door at times, because it isn’t easy making this big of a commitment with no promise of a big turnout! However, the three of us knew we have the potential after writing some of our newest demos “Silent Room” and “Salt” (you can find these demos on Band Camp or Sound Cloud) . We have the motivation, the drive, and the grit to show the world our music. Between a mix of shoegaze, metal, and whatever else we honestly feel we put our souls into it, we open our hearts to the world through sound. All of our music covers deep topics of mental health, and we hope one day our music makes millions feel understood through the words they could never say. No Clue is currently booking and playing shows all over the Orlando Area, our Instagram is Noclue.fl!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
As mentioned earlier, we’ve had many members in this band that ended up not working out or fitting. It’s difficult asking people to commit to something that is frowned upon or viewed as unrealistic, and it’s even harder asking them to leave when you’ve become close with them. The band also has had major writers block in moments, and it wasn’t until we got deep and opened up with each other that that went away. The music just a few people can create when everyone knows exactly how everyone else feels is beautiful. We appreciate every connection we’ve made with every member and the help that they’ve provided to the band, and we wish them all the best in their paths whether it’s music or not!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
No Clue is a local Orlando shoegaze/heavy metal band. We are known for integrating the grit and head banging parts of the iconic metal and hard core genres with the flow and emotion of shoegaze and catchy lyrics. Something our band is really proud of, aside the many shows we’ve played and put together, is our growth this year. We’ve finally reached a point in our musical paths that we are creating exactly what we want—the music we can’t find on Spotify, and we think people have recognized that at our shows. We’ve gained about 400 followers since we began our rebrand in May, and June is only now coming to an end!
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success is not a straight linear path, or written down on paper like a rule book. Success is the outcome of motivation, passion, blood and tears. Even if the outcome is small, and you have to keep going until it is world reaching, every step and chance at growth IS success.
